Western media outlets have flocked back to Lebanon since March 2, using buzzwords and phrases like “Hezb0llah stronghold” and “Iranian-backed militia” which serve a purpose: to signal that these areas, towns and cities deserve to be bombed.

Here ITV News uses this phrase to describe Tyre, one of the oldest cities in the world , ignoring its rich history and significant role as a maritime power and reducing it to an area where Hezb0llah “rules the roost”.

It’s not simply shoddy journalism. The messaging and framing is deliberate and a reminder that the Western media acts as the propaganda arm of the very states that are arming I$rael to the teeth while it carries out a genocide in Gaza and an ethnic cleansing operation on a scale larger than the Nakba in Lebanon.
