To my fellow citizens of the Republic of Somaliland, home & abroad, I extend my sincere greetings and appreciation, and convey my best wishes for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity.
You may know Berbera Port, but Berbera International Airport (BIA) is equally strategic.
🇦🇪 UAE-invested, BIA features a 4.8 km runway, one of the longest and safest in Africa
BIA capable of handling passenger, cargo, and military aircraft.

I see Mogadishu is having a snit-fit over the visit to Hargeisa by Israel's Foreign Minister. I've said before - instead of trying to make Somaliland fail, why doesn't Somali Govt focus on making their own country a viable, functioning, secure nation?

I thank @gidonsaar for visiting Somaliland and engaging directly with our leadership. This visit marks an important step toward constructive and mutually beneficial relations between Somaliland and Israel.
It's a great privilege to conduct the first official diplomatic visit to Somaliland, at the invitation of President @Abdirahmanirro.
The visit is also a message: We are determined to vigorously advance relations between Israel and Somaliland.
Today, we held substantive discussions with the President and senior members of his government on the full range of our relations.
The mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries are not directed against anyone. Our shared objective is to promote the mutual benefit of both nations and countries.
In Hargeisa, I made it clear:
Only Israel will decide whom it recognizes and with whom it maintains diplomatic relations.
The President of Somaliland informed me that he has accepted @IsraeliPM Netanyahu’s invitation and will pay an official visit to Israel.
Allegations of HealthCare fraud linked to Somalia’s UN representative are deeply concerning. For the credibility of the UN Security Council, this matter must be addressed through proper legal channels before any leadership role continues. Justice and integrity must come first.
I can confirm public speculation that Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman, Permanent Representative of Somalia to the UN and President of the Security Council, is in fact associated with Progressive Health Care Services, a home health agency in Cincinnati.
HHS has previously taken action against Progressive in response to a conviction for Medicaid fraud.
More to come.

Recognizing Somaliland isn’t charity — it’s strategy. It aligns with America’s security interests and the “America First” doctrine by strengthening an ally that shares our values in a region vital to global trade and counterterrorism.

Acknowledged at Home, Denied at the UN: #Somalia’s #Somaliland Genocide Contradiction
Somalia’s president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has acknowledged and publicly apologized for the genocide committed against the people of Somaliland by the Siad Barre regime, a position that sharply contrasts with statements made by Somalia’s envoy at the United Nations.
During yesterday’s UN Security Council meeting, Somalia’s ambassador to the UN, Abukar Balle, denied that genocide, triggering criticism from survivors, civil society groups, and observers who say the atrocities are extensively documented through eyewitness testimony, mass graves, and international human rights reports.
The contradiction between the Somali president’s acknowledgment and the UN envoy’s denial has reignited debate over historical accountability, truth, and justice for crimes committed in the late 1980s, when Somaliland cities including Hargeisa and Burao were subjected to large-scale destruction, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Somaliland restored its sovereignty in 1991 and has since maintained its own governing institutions, security forces, and democratic processes.

We sincerely thank the Government of 🇮🇱 for recognizing SL. This is an important step that acknowledges Somaliland’s peace, stability, and democratic progress. We hope it opens the door to stronger cooperation and wider international recognition.
@EIshmael_ He was a dictator—uneducated, tribal, and ultimately responsible for destroying the foundations that the Somali people had worked hard to build. His legacy left deep divisions and long-term damage that we are still recovering from today.
