@jeffreisig a serious/violent felony in California means a strikeable offense. I don't think someone convicted of 3 counts of shoplifting should got to prison for life. Petty theft with a prior is still a felony and punishable by state prison.

@pourover16 @PeterMoskos @M71358 If a PD won't let officers comment about a case -- because they don't trust their cops to know what NOT to say about a case, or more likely they just are terminally afraid of giving information to the public (you know, their employer) -- then that's a problem.

@KaitlinBain IDK KB...i've never thought you have to be detached to be a good journalist...you have to be able to detach and be professional and objective when needed...but if you you don't care enough for that to be a struggle sometimes you probably don't care enough to do a good job.
