Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the #ATIPSummit and learn from survivor leaders.
Thanks to the many members of Congress who spoke on their legislation.
I look forward to working with your staffers to push forward legislation to end human trafficking and exploitation.
For years, the #Uyghur people and other predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and across #China have faced repression marked by arbitrary detention, mass surveillance, forced assimilation, and coercive labor programs.
The U.S. Government has characterized these actions as genocide and crimes against humanity.
Our latest policy brief examines the ongoing persecution of Uyghurs, the role of forced labor in global supply chains, and key policy recommendations for action.

In 2017, over 700K #Rohingya refugees were forced to flee widespread persecution and violence in #Myanmar, as villages were burned and entire communities uprooted. The United Nations, the United States, and human rights organizations have since recognized these attacks as genocide.
On August 25, we mark Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day, honoring the victims of 2017 and standing with Rohingya communities still seeking justice and dignity today.

Help the Rohingya today! In 2017, more than 700,000 Rohingya fled persecution, ethnic cleansing, and genocide by Myanmar’s military. Today, the situation for the Rohingya community remains at crisis levels. In Myanmar, the Rohingya continue to face oppression and violence. In Bangladesh, over 1.1 million Rohingya refugees live in overcrowded camps in makeshift shelters and inhumane conditions.
With Congress returning from summer recess, you can support vulnerable Rohingya refugees by urging your elected officials to do these four things. Visit https://t.co/CQa18TnNoz to learn more
“Starvation and humanitarian aid have been weaponized by the Israel-US-backed GHF, while Israel ices out UNRWA, the humanitarian aid agency with the single longest successful food operation on the planet. For 75 years, UNRWA brought food and aid into Gaza,” @UNRWAUSA Executive Director @MaraKronenfeld tells @TheNation.
We have 6,000 trucks waiting to be allowed into #Gaza. Open the gates.

Four years since #Myanmar’s military seized power, the country is facing a deepening humanitarian crisis marked by violent conflict, mass displacement, and severe restrictions on freedom and access to basic rights.
Nearly 20M people need humanitarian aid, and a recent earthquake has exacerbated the devastation. Thousands of people have fled Myanmar, many of whom have sought refuge in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status (#TPS).
Our latest blog amplifies the voices of a Myanmar refugee & TPS holder, underscoring why maintaining & extending TPS is critical for the Burmese community in the U.S.

In Bangladesh’s refugee camps, home to 1.14M Rohingya Rohingya:

⏳ By September - health services will be disrupted.
⏳ By December - food assistance will stop.
Continued support is a matter of life and death.
The #Syrian displacement crisis is one of the largest refugee crises in the world.
From 2011–2024, over 6M Syrians fled war, repression & economic collapse under Assad—who weaponized displacement through sieges, chemical attacks & targeting civilians.
Six months after Assad’s fall, millions of Syrians remain displaced.
Our latest policy brief examines the current refugee situation and draws lessons from past post-regime transitions to inform a path forward.

Country conditions in #Myanmar make it impossible for anyone to return safely or in a dignified manner!
Urge you representatives and senators to call on the Trump Administration to extend and redesignate TPS for Myanmar.
#TPS#Advocacy#SoftPower#Logic
As the humanitarian situation in #Myanmar (Burma) continues to deteriorate, USCRI, along with Campaign for a New Myanmar (@ANewMyanmar) and 156 allied organizations, is calling on the Administration to extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Myanmar.
TPS is a vital humanitarian safeguard for individuals endangered by conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions.
The crisis in Myanmar—including a recent devastating earthquake, ongoing violent conflict, religious persecution, mass displacement, and widespread human rights violations—clearly meets the standard for TPS designation.
“Extending TPS now is not just compassionate—it’s essential. TPS offers necessary stability for Myanmar nationals who cannot return home,” says @ENegash_USCRI.

Urgent help needed in #Kenya’s refugee camps as starvation closes in.
U.S Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (@USCRIdc) voices deep concern as food ration cuts affect over 700,000 refugees in Kakuma, Dadaab, and Kalobeyei Settlement. More info: https://t.co/iTFAIOMx5X

In honor of #WorldRefugeeDay, USCRI Staff at HQ are wearing blue and white in solidarity with refugees. Today, over 123M people worldwide have been forced to flee conflict, violence, and persecution. They deserve safety, dignity, the chance to rebuild their lives, and the knowledge that they’re not alone.
Solidarity with refugees means action—listening to refugee voices, making space for their stories, and defending their right to seek safety. We are also wearing UNHCR’s (@Refugees) “With Refugees” bracelet, crafted by refugee artisans through the MADE51 initiative.

Over 700K refugees in #Kenya’s #Kakuma & #Dadaab camps and #Kalobeyei Settlement are affected by the devastating cuts in humanitarian aid by the U.S. and other donor governments, trying to survive on just 28% of their full food rations.
“These are not abstract numbers,” says @ENegash_USCRI. “Behind every statistic is a child going hungry, a mother skipping meals so her baby can eat, a teenager forced to abandon school to search for food or work.”
This is a man-made crisis—and it’s preventable. USCRI urges the international community to act now.

Watching this video sickened my stomach, the manhandling of a United States Senator, Senator Padilla.
We need immediate answers to what the hell went on.
Senator Alex Padilla is a good man and principled public servant.
The brazen and aggressive manhandling of Senator Padilla by the Trump administration is a sickening disgrace.
Anyone who assaulted the Senator should be held accountable.
No one is above the law.
This is absolutely outrageous. This is a US Senator — full stop. To treat him like this is beyond the pale and the mark of an authoritarian regime.
If they can do this to a sitting Senator, just think about what they can do to you. Absolutely no one should be treated this way.
The açaí in your bowl. The cocoa in your chocolate. The copper in your phone.
What do they have in common? Child labor.
This World Day Against Child Labor, we pause to recognize a global crisis that too often goes unseen: the exploitation of children in global supply chains.
Nearly 138 million children worldwide are engaged in child labor—many in dangerous, harmful conditions. It’s time to move from awareness to action.

Today marks two years of unimaginable suffering for the people of #Sudan.
A nation with a long history of welcoming refugees, is now itself shattered by war—and the world’s inaction.
