This NYT story is another sign of an uncomfortable truth about Trump’s immigration policy.
Some who support Trump clearly don’t like to be informed of this:

Trump said that if Kamala Harris wins the election, gas prices will go up by 25%.
Grok: “Gas prices have gone up by 69% this year under President Trump.”
Meryl Streep: The SAVE America Act, if that passes, all the married women that have changed their names are going have to go to the registrar and prove who they are. Otherwise, when you get to the voting booth in November, you might be disqualified, because your name on your birth certificate doesn't match the name on the voting rolls. I think that women need to be heard
We Germans know what fascism looks like.
My dear Americans, those of you who are still sane. You need to resist with everything that you have.
Use the first, second and whatever other amendment at your disposal.
The very existence of your republic and democracy is at stake.
Reporter: Trump argued that other countries are going to pay the brunt of the tariffs, but recent research finds the exact opposite. The cost of Trump's tariffs per household was $1,000 last year, and they're seeing an increase this year to $1,300.
Reminder: “The SAVE America Act” is not saving us from anything real — and was born out of the lies of a malignant narcissist who incited an insurrection. 🇺🇸

Here are the facts: the 7 states where 2/3 of Americans don't have a passport. All of them are red states: West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Yes, that's your home state, Scott.
Married women whose married names aren't on their birth docs would face extra hurdles. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean it isn't a real issue.
It took 17 years for Real ID (with similar citizenship requirements in some states) to actually be implemented in the US. Do YOU think that's because Americans are "too dumb" to figure it out?
Oh and BTW, according to the SAVE ACT, most Real IDs wouldn't count.
Gov. Shapiro: “The SAVE Act is designed to nationalize our elections. That's why I am vehemently opposed to it…We are not going to turn our elections over to Donald Trump.”
The SAVE Act has passed the House, making it harder for 69 million American women to vote.
This isn’t about voter fraud or undocumented immigrants.
This is about suppressing the female vote.
They want to repeal the 19th and this is a step in that direction.
House Republicans just passed the #SaveAmericaAct. It is a slap in the face to military families. 🇺🇸 This bill forces overseas military spouses to fly home to prove citizenship in person. It's unworkable, unfair, and disenfranchises those sacrificing the most.
#HandsOffHerVote
I’m not opposed to voter ID as long as IDs are free, which they are not so the SAVE act is unconstitutional and clearly meant to stifle poor people from voting.
1. What if you dont live in the same town you were BORN in? Or the same county. I never have.
2. What if yours doesn’t cost $15. Mine didnt. What if you dont have $15.
3. What if you dont have $165 for a passport.
4. What if you dont have a VEHICLE or reliable transport for obtaining any of this. My town doesnt have buses or Uber. You NEED a car.
5. What if you live 30 miles from the DMV to get that ID? Many people in rural America do.
6. What if you live with an abusive man who doesnt allow this?
7. What if your NAMES DONT MATCH
Copy of birth certificate: $25
Copy of marriage license: $25
Divorce decree and name change back: $50
A $100 poll tax for every divorced woman in the country.
First, they came for a woman's choice.
Now, republicans are coming for a woman's vote.
It's almost like republicans are led by a serial sexual abuser and rapist.
75% of Pennsylvanians don't have a Real ID, and 50% don't have a passport.
If the SAVE America Act passes, they wouldn't be able to vote THIS November.
Any member of Congress from Pennsylvania who votes yes is voting against the interests of their constituents.
Just so we’re clear:
Republicans are celebrating blocking millions of women from voting if their married name doesn’t match the name on their birth certificate.
