Belgian residents can travel from Brazil to Belgium with the only requirement of following a 10-day quarantine and presenting a negative PCR test. Why can’t these measures be applied for Brazilians applying for long stay visas?

Denmark, France, Spain and Portugal have already lifted their travel bans and are once again allowing Brazilians essential travelers to enter their territory. We urge for Belgium to allow hundreds of students, researchers and workers to continue their projects!

The Council of the European Union recommends that travel bans should not be applied to essential travelers such as students, researchers and workers. These measures have been applied in other countries. Why is that not the case in Belgium?
