Remembering the Life of President Russell M. Nelson
At age 101, President Russell M. Nelson, President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a world-renowned heart surgeon, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, eight children, 57 grandchildren and more than 100 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sister Dantzel Nelson, and two of his daughters.
Russell Marion Nelson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sept. 9, 1924.
He recently celebrated his 101st birthday with family and friends — making him the oldest president in the history of the Church.
Thousands of missionaries at the Provo MTC had a unique experience… thanks to an unexpected circumstance.
Right in the middle of a devotional with Elder @AndersenNeilL of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the sound system stopped working.
The auditorium… which doubles as a gymnasium… went quiet.
The disappointment was palpable…. But it was quickly replaced with joy.
Elder Andersen invited the MTC choir to sing their opening song again, “We’ll Bring the World His Truth.”
After the first verse, he stood and directed the whole congregation to join in.
Without hesitation, missionaries rose and boldly sang the words “we are now the Lord’s missionaries.”
One sister said she felt as if surrounded by angels.
After the singing, a quiet reverence filled the room.
Elder Andersen continued his message, testifying of Jesus Christ, without the help of the microphone.
Many missionaries in the very back of the room said they prayed to hear his words and their prayers were answered.
One elder said God was telling every single person in that room that He loves them and cares about them.
The Lord expects us to be peacemakers.
Difficult as it may seem to be, we have the responsibility to pray for those who may persecute us, as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount.
We need to learn to leave judgment to Him.

We just saw @jonryanjensen eat a whole orange in the office today. That orange-eating fact actually became a kind of tender mercy for a missionary in France. Here's when he wrote about it. https://t.co/60dY2WkAlP
“‘A great Shadow has departed,’ said Gandalf, and then he laughed and the sound was like music, or like water in a parched land…” —Tolkien
Rejoice! Be the flecks of gold, and the music, and the ‘water in a parched land’ that causes the shadows to depart from another person’s life. At every opportunity and from every fiber of your soul, rejoice for what the Lord has done for you.
"To be in a room or in a meeting or in a conversation with President Nelson just gives you the opportunity of experiencing what it would be like to be with the Savior. He is the Savior’s representative and he is our role model." — President Dallin H. Oaks (@OaksDallinH), First Counselor, The First Presidency
Do you agree with this list? I've read several of these books and can understand why parents would have concerns. But is it fair to ban them in every public school in the state? @kslnewsradio#utpol#news#books
