My chess journey has been nothing short of strategic training. At first, it felt like walking a path without a clue. I’ve always dreaded losing, yet I was never a fan of winning without understanding how. That curiosity led me to YouTube, where I began learning the game, the true battleground where you don’t just calculate your own moves but also anticipate your opponent’s. Chess trains you to think several steps ahead, to imagine what could happen if you move a piece and what might happen if you don’t.

After studying multiple strategies and understanding how each piece moves, I felt ready. But that confidence shifted recently - not because I discovered a new strategy, but because @AnichessGame introduced an entirely new kind of battleground. It’s the same chessboard, the same pieces, the same classic moves, yet with different rules, new mechanics, and fresh excitement.

Anichess represents the next generation of chess - magical, not just metaphorically but literally. The game is designed to both entertain and challenge in new ways, featuring in-game spells, unique boards, and an on-chain ecosystem that makes chess more dynamic than ever. It’s power-packed with multiple game modes:

• Casual: Get familiar with PVP battles by playing against players globally.
• Ranked: Compete, climb the ranks, and earn rewards as you rise to legendary status.
• Custom: Set your own rules and challenge a friend.
• Training: Practice against AI opponents with adjustable difficulty levels.
• Tutorial: Learn how to play and master the magic of Anichess.

So far, I’ve tried the Casual mode, and I must say, I was more impressed by how my opponents cast their spells than by how swiftly I was defeated. It’s rare to lose and still smile, but that’s exactly what happened. Wait until your opponent casts the “Imposter” or “Pounce and Purr” spell on you - you’ll find yourself smiling too, even in defeat. The development team truly outdid themselves with these magical mechanics.

Here’s a brief look at some of the spells:

• Imposter: Swap one of your pieces with your opponent’s piece of the same type (excluding the King and Pawns).
• Pengu Blast: Deploy up to three bombs between the 3rd and 6th ranks. They detonate after three turns, eliminating all pieces in the blast zone.
• Pounce and Purr: Leap a piece to an adjacent empty square, then stun an opponent’s piece within one square (excluding the King) for one turn.

These spells are mind-blowing and the best part? These three are just the beginning. They don’t even make up half of the available spell collection.

Recently, the @AnichessGame official account announced a reward pool tied to the Ranked mode, where players can earn between $50 and $1,800 based on their ranking. And the icing on the cake? The first-place winner receives a Lil Pudgy NFT.

While Anichess offers players a chance to win, the team itself is also winning. The project recently secured second place in the @base Live Mini App Contest, a remarkable achievement that reflects the creativity and innovation behind the game.
