The highlight of my day at the @WashFellowship summit in DC today was randomly being called on stage by Ethan Rosenzweig of the US Dept of State to introduce the work I've been doing in mental health in Nigeria. I was super humbled and felt validated. I look forward to doing more

My brother why are you shocked as a person who lives in Nigeria? Is pedophilia not everywhere in Nigeria, across regions and religion? Was a popular pedophile who was just released from jail (one of the few who ever go to jail) not boldly on a podcast in Lagos recently? Are men in northern Nigeria not fighting for their rights to marry children under the guise of religion? Is there a month that passes in Nigeria without news of a man or pastor or neighbour or family member raping a child? Does every university and secondary school not have predators hunting for young girls? What of the young men doing NYSC teaching kids?
I can never forget being in Oyo and volunteering to teach English in a secondary school in Iseyin where I discovered that some of the male teachers were having sex with their 13-15 year old students. I overheard a teacher saying that he had paid to get one of the students abortions a few times and that she was a slut. A child.
Unfortunately (and this bothered me) there was nothing I could do legally, as I did not see any of the acts myself. I merely overheard the men who were committing the acts talking and laughing about it.
So yeah, that is what is happening. Muscle memory from living in a country where you can safely be a pedophile.
If you are in such a situation and not sure what to do, please Google search mental health resources and some organizations should pop up. AI chatbots may not always give accurate resources. 💛💡
Suicide is hard! A hard choice for the deceased. A hard grief and loss for the survivors (loved ones of the deceased). Please, extend your empathy and compassion to both parties. If you or a loved one is struggling with suicidal thoughts, send a dm to @_sunshineseries
I have being saying this for the longest time:
We need far more awareness around mental health in this country. Sadly, many Nigerians still treat mental health like a joke or label it as a sign of weakness.
That mindset is dangerous. Someone being lively, playful, always laughing, or smiling is not a guarantee that they are mentally okay.
Many people are fighting silent battles behind that smile. Please check on people. Ask how they’re really doing. Ask how stressed they are. Ask about their mental and emotional well-being.
These simple conversations matter more than we know—they can go a very long way.
My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. May God give them the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss

Hello guys! I never thought we would have to post about this again.
Ganiyat @SanniGaniyat6 is 23yrs old girl and is still battling with kidney failure. She had her first kidney transplant in 2019 but the transplanted kidney collapsed in again and need for a replacement.
If motara deserves the trolling because of the rubbish she did years ago, what did DJ Cuppy do for her to have trolls in her mentions every time she tweets
These trolls also say the meanest things to DJ Cuppy. What did she do to deserve it cos some mad people are defending the trolls now
Anytime I see the King and his Queen doing their thing, what comes to my mind is they have decided to do the royalty thing as required of them, but they will not lose themselves in it. They will be their trueselves and deliver their royal duties too. Love it for them
Nigerians have been robbed. It's not just financial robbery I'm talking about. We've been robbed of our lives.
We can't travel to our villages because of insecurity. We are losing friends and loved ones. We even can't treat ourselves to experiences that were common 15 years ago.
We have received a tip.
A company alleges it was extorted using a similar letter demanding over ₦40 million in tax liabilities.
FIRS agents reportedly demanded that ₦20 million be paid to “resolve” the case, with the money sent to a non-official account.
If you’ve experienced something similar, send us a message.
When the whole 4 Abi 5 days Targeted harassment happened to me on this app, honestly, it was painful and annoying..
When it got out of hands, my partner called our parents to inform them before hand and also to let them know of the steps he’d be taking..
Man said to me “Let them have their moment, we’d have ours “
We didn’t bother with those that “Insulted me” we made a list of those that came out boldly with false accusations for the clout it generated..
I was so tempted to publicize steps we took, payments made, petitions filed and approved of each individual involved
We decided not to settle and went to the top of the necessary agencies instead, our goal “Let’s do this the proper way so no one will cry foul when they get picked up”
Following due process was / is still the goal..
Oh we spent money, heck, we even had to cancel our honeymoon vacation outside the country just to fund this cause🤭
Yes it might take time, but be sure we are steadily following due process and we are willing to see it till the end, thankfully, we have the resources..
And no, it doesn’t end with just this guy..
You cannot deliberately and maliciously slander / try to damage one’s reputation and think it’ll magically disappear once you make an apology tweet.
I might be forgiving, but you see the MAN you plastered his face on the internet with the caption “HOD of mumu association “ and your followers where kikiing isn’t and I promise you, lessons will be learnt.
I feel we downplay drug abuse so much in Nigeria.
I have seen drugs ruin people with huge potential and they never recovered.
I have seen someone try it for the first time due to peer pressure and battle addiction for over a decade.
Please don’t do drugs.
@MimieLaushi This would make sense though if he did it for PR. If his reasons for doing it are not about what others think of him or the gifts, then all of these seem like stress for him.
He shot his wife and his elder daughter aged 12, and strangled his 5 year old daughter to death, all this for not wearing Burqa. It was, is and never will be a choice. Choices are rational.
@mc_foee It is so sad seeing how our empathy goes down the drain on this platform. Imagine someone wrote that about your sister. Haba! People are not robots na. Anything you think will hurt you, will likely hurt the person you are saying the same about. Allah ya shiryemu.
