I attended #LEADINGxCHANGE and #GLOBExCHANGE last week as 1 of 120+ emerging leaders in @LeadingChangeCa’s 2023 delegation!
I got to collaborate with leaders from across Canada to ensure we get to net zero even faster.
Some key takeaways from the last few days are:
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
I figured out why the Artemis stream felt so different
It's because for the first time in decades, we collectively witnessed something that was untouched by politics, celebrities and influencers
It’s so funny how Fahmi Reza said “fuck racists” and a whole bunch of u stood up and said “well fuck u too!”
kalau orang panggil “hei bodoh” mesti kau toleh dan sahut, kan lmaoooo
Another fact about data centres in Malaysia: one analysis found that they could release nearly 10 million tonnes of CO2 annually, which equivalent to 2 million cars on the road. Data centres often buy renewable energy certificates but they still largely depend on fossil fuels.
I was offered money to promote ASEAN to you, but I said no! ❌
Sebab I rather talk to you about how ASEAN has been lowkey ‘toothless’ when dealing with human rights violations in Southeast Asia 🤧
Congratulations and remember
DO NOT LET ANY SARAWAKIAN FOOCHOW TIMBER COMPANY ENTER YOUR FORESTS
We will turn your country into an australian desert overnight.
Preserve your sandalwood and teak.
A million seconds is 12 days. A Billion seconds is 32 years and a Trillion seconds is almost 32,000 years. If you still believe “time is money”, you’re mistaken. This kind of money is about extraction and exploitation.
Fresh from being blacklisted from entering Sabah, Fahmi Reza @kuasasiswa said he is now barred from leaving Malaysia. He said he was catching a flight to Singapore but was turned away by Malaysian immigration.
It’s an all hands on deck moment for taking on corporate abuse.
Excited to join @ZohranKMamdani and @ZephyrTeachout to discuss how local government can join the fight.
Please do not feed wild primates. It can change their natural behaviour. Since Siamangs share 96% of their DNA with humans, feeding them can risk disease transmission. Human food is not healthy for them too.
Siamangs are endangered animals & listed as Totally Protected Species.
The junk fees rule we finalized @FTC last year goes into effect today.
That means businesses selling live-event tickets or short-term lodging can no longer surprise you with mystery charges that inflate your bill when you check out.

So, I made these infographics on how the public can support elephant conservation in Malaysia!
Please continue to volunteer, donate & amplify the work that local NGOs are doing to protect our wildlife.
