@aislingtho @metoffice Hello Aisling. I collect data for TORRO. This was incorrectly initially reported as a waterspout, but you are correct that it was a tornado. It appears to have been between Rosewell + Bonnyrigg.

Do you know of any damage reported - to trees, structures etc?

@simon_culling @metoffice Ah good to know! I did wonder. I was pretty sure it started right beside us which was over fields. Trampolines on roofs, our neighbours car was damaged etc.

Looking at the rainfall radar from earlier I noticed this discrete little hook which is possibly where today’s tornado, spotted from Bonnyrigg & Rosewell, formed. Looks like it developed over Gorebridge and dissipated by the time it reached the bypass near Bonnyrigg & Dalkeith.🌪
