Copernicus is the biggest environmental programme in the world, providing terabytes of free and open data and information services to hundreds of thousands of users daily. Today at #salondubourget, we welcomed nine companies of Europe’s emerging NewSpace industry into the family.

These companies will become Copernicus Contributing Missions, playing a crucial role in delivering complementary EO data to address the needs of our users. ESA and the European Commission are strongly aligned about the importance of supporting the European NewSpace ecosystem.

Our planned thermal-enabled constellation of small satellites- the first of which is launching in five days aboard the @spacex @dorbit ION - will add a new tool in the arsenal of disaster managers for better mapping and mitigating floods.
