Just 15 meters away from Chanditala Police Station, while I was on my way to submit a deputation, BJP-backed miscreants launched a violent attack on me. A hard object was hurled directly at my head, causing injuries to my head and pain in my chest. The nature of the assault clearly suggests an attempt to inflict serious harm, if not take my life.

If an opposition Member of Parliament can be attacked in broad daylight, in full view of the police and so close to a police station, one must ask: where is the security for ordinary party workers and supporters?

Yesterday it was @abhishekaitc, today it is me. Such attacks will not intimidate us or force us into silence. Our struggle against the BJP government’s culture of political intimidation, misuse of state machinery, and the steady erosion of democratic values will continue unabated.

We have always stood with the people and fought for their interests. We were on the streets yesterday, we are on the streets today, and we will remain there tomorrow—continuing our fight for the rights and welfare of ordinary citizens.

If a sitting Opposition MP can be targeted in broad daylight, what hope is there for ordinary citizens?

Is this BJP’s idea of democracy? Is this the “good governance” that PM @narendramodi never stops boasting about?

Violence, intimidation and political hooliganism have become the defining features of BJP’s rule. Those responsible may enjoy political patronage today, but they cannot escape accountability forever.

From homes to hawker stalls, the poor are paying the price of political arrogance. Bengal does not believe in bulldozer politics. The land of Tagore and Netaji cannot be ruled through fear, force, and demolition drives against ordinary citizens.

What we are witnessing today is an attack on the dignity of the people of Bengal- daily wage workers, street vendors, small shopkeepers, and struggling families who have built their lives brick by brick. The massive eviction drive around Howrah Station, the unrest and anger erupting on the streets of Tiljala and Park Circus, and the growing desperation among those suddenly stripped of shelter and livelihood expose a government more obsessed with optics than humanity.

A government that demolishes first and listens later has forgotten the very spirit of Bengal. Real progress is measured by how a state treats its weakest citizens, not by how quickly it can erase them.

Bulldozers cannot become the language of governance in a state built on culture, compassion, and resistance to oppression.

To every soldier of the Trinamool Congress family, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your courage, resilience, and relentless fight for justice. Despite an extremely difficult and compromised election, you never gave up hope.

Our candidates and counting agents were forcibly removed in several places, while the counting process was effectively controlled by Central Government employees. After the results, Bengal witnessed shocking post-poll violence despite repeated promises of protection by the Centre. Central forces remained mute spectators as our workers, offices, and homes were attacked and set ablaze.

My deepest condolences to the families of those we lost in this struggle. Bengal has suffered immensely over the past few days, and such scenes are against the very spirit of our land.

But this fight is far from over. We will challenge every illegality, manipulation, and abuse of power through every constitutional and legal avenue available to us. We have full faith in the Hon’ble Supreme Court and in the democratic institutions of this country. In more than 100 seats, our candidates and counting agents were forcibly removed, serious irregularities were reported, and the mandate of the people was undermined. The truth cannot be buried forever, and every injustice faced by the people of Bengal will be raised with strength and determination.

The people of Bengal know who stood beside them through every hardship, and we must continue to do so with patience, unity, and determination. Truth cannot be suppressed forever. We will return stronger.

Stay united. Stay on the ground. Continue serving the people with courage, discipline, and positivity. Our fight will continue with unwavering determination and faith in democracy.
