The proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment has sparked widespread debate across the country.

The amendment proposes changes to Article 243 of the Constitution concerning armed forces, the establishment of a Constitutional court and the transfer of High court judges is being portrayed by the government as aiming to promote 'balance and transparency among state institutions'.

But constitutional and legal experts have voiced reservations, warning that the proposed changes could undermine several fundamental principles of the Constitution.

Legal circles allege that it is being introduced to serve the interests of a select few individuals rather than the broader constitutional framework.
