This Week in Family Tree news:
Family trees are about people, and people belong to places. You can now capture the geography behind your lineage: place of birth, current residence, and place of rest.
Just start typing a location and pick from live suggestions. We capture precise coordinates and settlements for you.
Every place you add is a step closer to helping you visualize your family tree scattered across towns, cities, and continents.
Try it out, and as always, we'd love your feedback.

I wonder what agentic AI does to the virtual assistant market over the next few years.
Some of the drudgery and minutia of knowledge work can now be easily automated, with supervision.
As a personal example, I don't need PMO or anyone else to block calendars and set up meetings any more.
My first successful 12 week year was done with agents time blocking my calendar.
🚨LiteLLM hijacked again: version 1.107.0.
PHP for breakfast, Python for lunch! ☕
The JFrog Security Research team discovered a PyPI package hijack affecting LiteLLM (23M weekly downloads). All seven PyPI wheels carry files that run on package install time, steal credentials and open an hourly remote-code channel, even if your app never imports litellm. The hijack also affected LiteLLM's official Docker Hub images, with the same payload.
If it's anywhere in your environment, don't start clean-up by running pip. Starting Python can re-trigger a payload that steals credentials and runs at interpreter startup.
The JFrog Security Research team has detailed the attack, the indicators of compromise and the remediation steps.

Stop identifying with your job title! It’s a trap that will keep your poor
You aren’t a data engineer or a product manager.
You’re a human capable of adapting and learning so much.
When I was working at Airbnb, they were like, you’re one of the best data engineers, Zach. We want you to become a principal data engineer!
The glory of being a principal engineer in big tech. Wow!
And I drank the Koolaid fully from 2016 to 2023. But so much sugar ultimately made my stomach sick and I realized my life was more than SQL, Scala, Spark and Airflow.
I irrationally left a $600k data engineering job for a $0 content creator business.
I was destined to be an internet clown and educator.
I traded SQL for shitposting.
I traded Spark for sales.
I traded Scala for scaling my business.
I traded Airflow for art.
And now this absolutely absurd decision in 2023 is looking better and better as technical skills continue to get undermined by AI.
Give yourself to reinvent yourself!
Give yourself permission to change jobs!
You’re a multi potential human
Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change!
TL DR: From a technical perspective LMs are impressive peace of technology.
But the data acquisition processes for training are questionable.
These models are some what good at recombination of existing components which makes them reliant on human data but are not intelligent.
Office work replaced all aspects of life, from family and friends to intellectual and cultural pursuits, with "office life". So I can see why someone could think removing office work from some people can be bad, because it now leaves them with nothing.
But the point of remote work is that you can live a full life! You don't have to only socialize with those in the office, you don't have to only do what's acceptable to do in an office. You are free.
Lots of people are under illusions about how things happen, how things really get done.
Things don’t get done by committees of decision makers, but when a few people get up and take action, moving it from a theoretical idea to something specific that can be iterated on.
Do you still need to build admin UI's you'll have to maintain for your enterprise saas?
When?
If your admins are already using an agent for other work, could you solve a lot of their use cases by giving them an MCP server?
People who think stuff like ‘every developer should complete a minimum of XX story points per time period’ are never going to ship anything phenomenal.
