A suggestion for critics of AI welfare and AI doom: spend more time addressing our arguments and less time psychoanalyzing us, comparing us to millenarian cults, and doing other well-poisoning.
@0rcaadvocate@ZackTheEnby If your argument is that carnivores are necessary and that they cannot be replaced even with the technologies I suggested, then the burden of proof lays on you to demonstrate this. If you do not attempt to do this, I'll take it as a de facto concession that you have no argument.
@0rcaadvocate@ZackTheEnby With these measures, animal populations would be managed by us, not left alone for animals to 'decide' by ripping each other apart limb-from-limb, dying from disease, or starving to death. Wild animal suffering would be significantly reduced.
@0rcaadvocate@ZackTheEnby Genetically modifying animals to lose such instincts seems like a potential way, coupled with future fertility and monitoring technologies. Something similar has been done with malaria-carrying mosquitoes in some areas.
@0rcaadvocate@ZackTheEnby 1. You're making an empirical claim now, that such technologies cannot exist. The burden of proof lays on you to demonstrate this notion.
2. What do you mean by that animals "function and [live] just fine" at this moment?
@ZackTheEnby Do you believe that extreme animal suffering should not be prevented even if the technology to do so was available? The extreme suffering of billions of wild animals?
@ZackTheEnby You could stick to this straw man of making carnivores go extinct even when the technologies to 1) make this happen and 2) keep the world running aren't available, something I haven't heard anyone anti-WAS argue for, but I presented the stronger form of the view.

@ZackTheEnby If technologies which could render the necessity for carnivory in nature obsolete for the sustaining of the environment were developed, and this would significantly minimize the amount of extreme animal suffering, then it would seem to be good to employ those technologies.
@noweimarnoreich@Unpop_Science I mean it is "protein" (who're you quoting?) and other compounds arranged in a certain manner. Is there some other attribute it possesses which cannot be replicated in vegan cat food? If so, what is this attribute?
@Hokuboku@newmattock@Tribblepoo@formerlygossip You're claiming these studies "tested" vegan cat food now? As in, foodstuff with added synthesized nutrients? Because they didn't. You're hallucinating the contents because you don't know how to read scientific literature.
@Hokuboku@newmattock@Tribblepoo@formerlygossip Really?
"In contrast, all plant-sourced foodstuffs lack taurine and creatine and, therefore, should not be fed solely to either cats..."
Interpret the claim "all plant-sourced foodstuffs lack taurine". What does this mean? What's being communicated?
@Hokuboku@newmattock@Tribblepoo@formerlygossip Read my post again. They say plant-sourced foods (your second study saying "all" plant-sourced foods by the way) don't contain taurine, which is obviously false given your interpretation but makes perfect sense under mine. https://t.co/EUm4475S52
@Hokuboku@newmattock@Tribblepoo@formerlygossip Then all of these studies you have cited are outright false because vegan cat food like Benovo contains taurine, and so does plant-based foodstuff for humans like Red Bull. Or it is you who's wrong and these researchers know that you can add synthesized taurine.
