Keeping my account around on here, will still check in mostly because YIMBY-posting on this cursed platform is still needed, but this time we do actually have the critical mass to move to The Other Place. @andrew.donnellan.id.au
@suburban_melb the card readers being about as fast as they can be short of switching to something Japanese and FeLiCa-based is probably the most positive thing I have to say about MyWay+. I still think there's not enough card readers at Alinga Street for peak hour flows
@Bob247874 Sydney Airport, located in the City of... Bayside? Wait, "Bayside Council", is it even a city? Or is it just "Bayside"? If it's not a city what is it? We can't call it a "council", that's just weird
@nzsd@boomhotdog2 nuke silo built into the top of the Rock to remind the Spanish not to get any funny ideas again, and also because when the war starts it'd look really cool for a few minutes
@nzsd@boomhotdog2 or they'll remain two independent states, except Zealand will rename itself New Zeeland, despite neither the Danish or Dutch words for "new" being spelled "new"
@nzsd@boomhotdog2 there will be one in the vicinity of Wittenberg, but it will not in fact include All Saints' Church, which will be a couple of kilometres inside Germany but with extraterritorial status
@nzsd@boomhotdog2 the peoples of Balzers, Eschen, Gamprin, Mauren, Planken, Ruggell, Schaan, Schellenberg, Triesen, Triesenberg and Vaduz should each exercise their sovereign right to self-determination and liberate themselves as provided for by art 4(2) of the Liechtenstein Constitution
@nzsd@boomhotdog2 declare that Gaddafi was right, society has moved past the need for Switzerland, but that actually what the world needs today is 26 independent, free and sovereign cantons
@db_econ Aventedge also runs a brand called "Salus Events", for which they use a .org domain (not .org.au, for reasons anyone who knows .au will understand), despite (AFAICT) being a standard Pty Ltd company
@db_econ I appreciate that what they're offering to their "partner" organisations that do the branding and promotion for them is likely that they can do even more of the work than a professional conf organiser can as a contractor, and probably absorbing financial risk too - but still
@JLininson idk about arts and culture in general but I think our literary output pretty clearly lags that of other young, smallish anglosphere places like Canada, NZ, and anglo South Africa if you make the appropriate adjustments for population size
@Miles_Brundage is this position so extreme that it ought to be outside the overton window / on the "sensible folk should call this out for being extreme rather than engaging seriously" end of the overton window?
I will soon be introducing a bill to give the public a 50% ownership stake in the largest AI companies in America.
This would guarantee that the trillions created by AI are used to improve the lives of all of us β and block oligarch decisions that harm the American people.
I do find something compelling about this argument but if the entire *world's* output was scraped to build LLMs and this comes with some obligations they are clearly not only to Americans
