@39CSustain In 2014, #FlintWaterCrisis was one of the most trending topics. It was easy to gather that the city of Flint was being poisoned by the lead in their pipes. In reality, the issue with Flint was less about poor infrastructure and more of a social and political issue...
ROADBLOCKS/OPPOSITION: However, because the bill is so new, the source of the money is unclear and may be a big issue that can attract opposition. Some don't understand the bill and think that it is just redundant to the Clean Water Act.
PROBLEM: Flint families are now facing a health crisis due to lead poisoning along with the #legionnaires outbreak. They no longer trust their water nor gov't. How can they trust a system that seems to care more about their reputation than the safety of its people?@39CSustain
& while money can't buy happiness, (as it would be impossible to ask for Flint to be happy with their govt) this much money may be the 1st step to healing & trust. It shows that the govt is taking action to defend the health of its people and is also defending their voices. (3/3)
On the 4th anniversary of the #FlintWaterCrisis, I'm proud to join over 37 members of Congress to support the #WATERAct which would provide $35 billion a year to improve drinking water & wastewater services in communities across the country. https://t.co/F2AJTovNzW
Four years later, it’s still unsafe for #Flint to use water that runs through their faucets to brush their teeth, shower, or wash their food. We must pass the #WATERAct & ensure clean, safe, and affordable water for all. #DontForgetFlint
