Silent mutations aren't so silent. Interesting study showing that amino acid correction with synonymous codons doesn't restore protein function. Possible explanations: distortion of mRNA structure, altered half-life, and/or low abundance of the cognate tRNA

@TIlyaich Interesting tech, but probably has limited application in its current form. NHP data shows the need to 3x dose ImmTOR just to not see antibodies at day 84. A single dose still led to AAV-8 abs after day 56! Hard to say if this can be tolerated for human AAV redosing...
7) Conclusion: There has been amazing progress in the science and engineering of gene and cell therapy. There are still a lot of challenges, but the creativity of academics and industry researchers are rapidly paving the way for exciting and novel medicines.
6) I'm not as well-versed in cell therapies, but that is a whole other mind-blowing side of ASGCT I'm planning to delve more into in the future. Excited to see the potential of engineered iPSCs, T-cells, NK cells, macrophages, and bioprinted organs for therapeutic applications...
