IT WAS JUST A DNS LEAK

Root cause: running openvpn in the foreground created tun0 only while the process ran, so systemd-resolved kept using ISP DNS. Solution: run OpenVPN as a systemd service and bind DNS to the tun interface (resolvectl dns <ifindex> 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4)
