Today in Argungu, I witnessed more than a festival. I witnessed a people reclaiming their peace.
The 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival is proof that stability is gradually returning, that normalcy is taking root, and that our investments in security are yielding results.
Over 50,000 fishermen gathered at Matan Fada. Culture flourished. Competition thrived. Communities celebrated without fear.
This is not accidental. It is the product of coordinated security efforts, intelligence work, and community partnership. We will win the fight against insecurity. Our farmers, fishermen, traders, and families must live and work in safety.
Argungu is also a reminder that culture is commerce. Tourism is opportunity. Agriculture is prosperity.
We will continue to support Kebbi State and every state committed to food security, rural development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure growth.
Nigeria is moving forward. Peace by peace. Harvest by harvest. Community by community.
Renewed Hope is alive in Argungu.
United Nations (@UN) Secretary-General @antonioguterres has asked Nigeria to spearhead Africa’s quest for a restructured global order, describing the country as uniquely positioned to lead the continent toward superpower status.
Guterres praised the economic reforms of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, as well as Nigeria’s leadership in stabilising the Sahel and ECOWAS (@ecowas_cedeao) regions, despite facing its own security challenges.
The UN Chief made the remarks on Friday during a high-level bilateral meeting with Vice President @KashimSM on the sidelines of the 39th African Union (@_AfricanUnion) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The UN Secretary-General and the Vice President discussed key developments in Nigeria, as well as the country’s expanding leadership role in promoting regional stability across West Africa and the Sahel.
Guterres commended the remarkable and outstanding reforms of the administration of President @officialABAT, noting that Nigeria’s bold economic restructuring and security commitments have strengthened its continental standing.
In his remarks, Vice President @KashimSM thanked the UN Secretary-General for his leadership in promoting global peace, saying Africa has benefitted immensely from his tenure, even as the United Nations undergoes internal restructuring.

Yesterday, we made history in Katsina.
I had the honour of commissioning the first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in our state, the Greenville LNG- CNG Hub Station, a major step forward in our journey toward energy security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
This project is a clear demonstration that our promises are being translated into tangible results. From my visit to Greenville’s facility in Kaduna in January 2024 to today’s commissioning, this achievement reflects vision, strong partnership, and deliberate execution.
Energy remains central to our development agenda because it is the backbone of security, productivity, and economic growth. With this new CNG station, we are providing cleaner and more affordable fuel for our people, supporting transporters, businesses, and institutions, creating jobs, expanding economic opportunities, and advancing our energy transition and climate goals.
This milestone aligns with the Federal Government’s Presidential CNG Initiative and our broader strategy to diversify energy sources in Katsina by combining gas, solar, battery storage, and grid improvements to deliver reliable and sustainable power.
Beyond this CNG hub, our administration is in the process of hybridizing the state wind farm with solar photovoltaic systems and battery storage, deployed solar mini-grids and stand-alone systems in rural communities, markets, and public institutions, invested in transformers and energy infrastructure to strengthen electricity distribution, and prioritised local content, youth empowerment, and skills development.
Our goal is to build a secure, productive, and climate-conscious Katsina where citizens and investors can thrive.
I sincerely appreciate our partners at Greenville LNG, regulators, transport unions, and all stakeholders who made this project possible. We are collectively positioning Katsina as a forward-looking state that embraces innovation, accountability, and responsible investment.
Congratulations to our dear Highly Respected First Lady and my Big Mummy, Her Excellency, @SenRemiTinubu CON, on her emergence as the Person Of Year, 2025 at the 18th Leadership Newspapers Annual Conference and Awards ceremony.
Today, I had the distinct honour of receiving the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, and his entourage for a productive engagement centred on heritage, storytelling, and tourism development.
Our discussions explored ways to formalise collaboration between Asaba and the Ministry to preserve cultural heritage, strengthen storytelling through the arts, and unlock the tourism potential of historic sites in Asaba, Delta State, with support from the Federal Government.
This engagement reaffirms that our traditions are not relics of the past but valuable assets for the future. It is especially significant given Asaba’s longstanding role as the home of Nollywood and its inscription by UNESCO as a Creative City for Film. I look forward to visiting Asaba to experience its culture and to taking concrete steps to formalise this partnership.

The era of negotiations & pampering of terrorists is over. I expect every state governor, along with all state security chiefs & military commanders, to launch a full-scale war against terrorism. We must not provide terrorists or any violent groups a chance to survive in Nigeria.
STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT TINUBU ASKS MATAWALLE, MINISTER OF STATE FOR DEFENCE, TO MOVE TO KEBBI OVER SCHOOLGIRLS' ABDUCTION
President Bola Tinubu has asked the Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi State over the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in the state.
Matawalle, who was formerly governor of Zamfara State, was asked to remain in the state to monitor security efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.
Gunmen abducted 24 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town, Kebbi State, around 4 am on Monday.
Matawalle, who is expected to arrive in Birni-Kebbi on Friday, gained some experience in dealing with banditry and mass kidnapping during his tenure as governor of Zamfara State from 2019 to 2023.
On 26 February 2021, armed bandits abducted 279 female students aged between 10 and 17 at the Government Girls Science Secondary School, a boarding school in Jangebe, in Zamfara State. The bandits released all the hostages on 2 March 2021.
President Tinubu had postponed his scheduled trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, as he awaited further security briefings on the kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls and the attack on Christ Apostolic Church worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.

Reforming of the UN-Security council will be a welcoming development for all, and as well history will remember You and your team for a job well-done...
For 80 years, the Security Council has shaped the UN and the course of history.
But, without a Security Council fit for purpose, the world is in grave danger.
Reform of the Council is imperative, and long overdue – including expanding its membership.
