“मेरे खाते में तो सिर्फ 102 रुपये हैं, मैं दिल्ली नहीं आ पाऊँगा।”

कुछ दिनों पहले प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने अपने मन की बात कार्यक्रम में भरतपुर निवासी जितेंद्र सिंह का उल्लेख किया था। वर्तमान में वे सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी, सूरत में सुरक्षा गार्ड के रूप में कार्यरत हैं। वर्षों से वे शहीद परिवारों को पत्र लिखते आ रहे हैं। उनके पास शहीदों की स्मृतियों का एक अनूठा संग्रह है 24 हजार से अधिक शहीदों की तस्वीरें और सैकड़ों प्रतिमाएँ। उनकी इच्छा है कि गाँव में एक ऐसा हॉल बने, जहाँ इन शहीदों की अमर स्मृतियाँ सहेजी जा सकें।

इसी बीच प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय से उन्हें गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में शामिल होने का निमंत्रण मिला। जब अधिकारियों ने दिल्ली आने की बात कही तो जितेंद्र सिंह ने विनम्रता से कहा कि उनके खाते में मात्र 102 रुपये हैं, वे दिल्ली आने में असमर्थ हैं। यह सुनकर प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय के अधिकारियों ने कहा आपकी आने-जाने की टिकट हम भेज देंगे।

इतना ही नहीं, जब जितेंद्र सिंह ने यह बताया कि उनकी पत्नी ने कभी हवाई यात्रा नहीं की है, तो अधिकारियों ने दोनों की फ्लाइट टिकट बुक कर दी।

इस पर जितेंद्र सिंह ने जो कहा, वही उनकी साधना और समर्पण का सार है

“अगर कोई मुझे फ्रांस की फ्लाइट का टिकट देकर एफिल टावर दिखा दे, तो वह मेरे किसी काम का नहीं। मेरा जीवन शहीदों और जवानों से जुड़ा है। गणतंत्र दिवस की परेड देखना मेरे लिए किसी पुरस्कार से कम नहीं।”

एक साधारण सुरक्षा गार्ड, जब अपनी पत्नी के साथ विमान में बैठकर दिल्ली पहुँचा होगा और राजपथ की उस भव्य परेड को देखा होगा, तो वर्षों से संजोई शहीदों की निस्वार्थ साधना, उनके त्याग और बलिदान के असंख्य दृश्य उसकी आँखों के सामने सजीव हो उठे होंगे।

यह पूरी घटना श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता के उस अमर श्लोक को साकार करती है–
“कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥”
अर्थात–
मनुष्य का अधिकार केवल कर्म करने में है, फल में नहीं। कर्मफल की आसक्ति न रखते हुए, निष्काम भाव से अपने कर्तव्य का पालन ही सच्ची साधना है।

जितेंद्र सिंह का जीवन इसी निष्काम कर्म का जीवंत उदाहरण है जहाँ सम्मान लक्ष्य नहीं, बल्कि सेवा ही साध्य है।
