Seriously wondering if Dallas Brodie tipped the scales for the winner tonight. Had she not come out swinging for Yuri, and getting people to take out memberships in another party...
@Prominent_Bryan@TheChaosWeeber "Technical" recession is idiotic. You either have a recession or you don't. In Canada a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. Anything beyond that definition is nebulous editorialising based on tribalism, combined with ignorance of economics in general.
@Prominent_Bryan To be clear, are you talking about BC Liberal MLAs who were allowed to run as Conservatives because Rustad never called Falcon's bluff, or the obvious Liberals who were allowed to run as Conservatives because of Rustad's razor-sharp political acumen and overall superior judgment?
Which means that non-citizens are electing MPs in so-called "safe" ridings.
As @brianlilley once said,
"The Liberal Party allows people who are non-citizens of Canada and who are as young as 14 to vote in leadership races. All the parties have rules that are too loose, but the Liberals have the craziest rules of all.
It means a 14-year-old from Wuhan in China, a 15-year-old from Belgorod in Russia or a 17-year-old student from Gandhinagar in India could have as much impact as voters from Etobicoke, Calgary or Ottawa in choosing our next prime minister.
What serious country does this?"

@wyatt_claypool Pretty wild making a BC Liberal the leader of the Conservatives, even if interim.
Halford, Paton, Milobar...they never crossed when they could have made a principled stance. Not when their leader took them to single digits in the polls.
They switched once the BCLP was bankrupt.
@JimMcMurtry01 School trustees don't have the authority to fire teachers.
Sounds like your beef is with the superintendent or other senior HR staff.
Do they still teach civics in BC schools?
Extremely important post that highlights one of the subjects I've been talking about for nearly 25 years now.
This is very much like watching the rise of Hitler in the early 1930s while the Neville Chamberlains, as well as those who are completely ignorant and arrogant about the Middle East in general, ignore the Churchills of the world who are describing the gathering threat.
🧵A new Axis of Evil is quietly emerging in the Middle East, but it's not the one you've been told to fear. It's not Tehran. It's not the Shia Axis. It's something far more insidious—and it's hiding in plain sight: Turkey, Qatar, and Syria.
Let’s dive in.
Been on hold with @Rogers for nearly 30 minutes now, trying to cancel service that I never signed up for in the first place.
I have been a Shaw customer for the past 30 years and have no interest in staying on. But Rogers took them over a little while ago, and their business practices have never changed in all the decades I've been forced to interact with them.
Good luck even finding a phone number on their byzantine website. Had to find it through Facebook.
Can't use their online chat "feature" because they won't recognise that I'm logged into my Shaw acc't. Something they undoubtedly never thought/cared about when they took over Shaw's customers.
The fact that you can't just cancel services - without being FORCED to talk to their last-ditch effort high-pressure sales people - is something the @CRTCeng should deal with. Immediately.

Voting day in Abbotsford-South Langley. Hoping the CPC membership will heed the Buckley Rule today.
No matter what happens today, I'm that person in most rooms I'm in, and will carry the mission forward as a happy warrior wherever I go and whatever I do.
Following my most recent informational evening at Garden Park Tower, I was asked to write an op-ed for the BC Catholic about the potential threat on the horizon for all religions in Canada.
Removing charitable tax status from the institutions most qualified to address the needs created by poor government decisions would be an even worse mistake.

NDP-Liberals have wiped Global Affairs Canada’s project database clean – hiding where your taxpayer dollars are going.
What was once public is now erased. No transparency. No accountability.

Fantastic turnout in Abbotsford-SouthLangley on very short notice for my informational Meet & Greet on defending religious freedom in Canada.
Very gratifying to see Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, and Jews uniting in common cause against the ideological tyranny of the socialists in Ottawa. I was especially pleased at how many pastors were in attendance.
I vowed to speak up early, often, and forcefully whenever freedoms were under attack, and I will continue to do so - when it's happening - not once it becomes politically convenient, as one of my revisionist-history competitors has.
That person has spiked the proverbial football over his supposed defence of religion, but voted in favour of Bonnie Henry's draconian, pseudoscientific, and embarrassing response to the Covid situation a couple of years ago.
In the midst of what the Federal Court of Canada called Justin's "unreasonable and unconstitutional invocation of the Emergencies Act," many governments and opposition parties abdicated their responsibility to govern, and hold to account those who were supposed to be governing, and instead outsourced their powers to an unelected, unqualified, and unaccountable bureaucrat. Their jobs are to provide counsel. Government's job is to govern, according to the constitution.
You need to take out a membership in the Conservative Party of Canada today if you want to elect an actual conservative who actually champions freedom.
The tariffs are on pause for now, but the assault on freedom of religion continues.
Recommendation #430 from the Finance Committee was that charitable tax status be removed from organisations who use "advancement of religion as a charitable purpose."
Don't forget that this Prime Minister's daddy was the one who brought in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms - the one whose preamble acknowledges the supremacy of God and calls freedom of religion a "fundamental freedom."
Join me this Thursday from 6-8pm (doors will be open early, around 5:30) for a brief talk and an extended Q&A on freedom of religion (or any other questions about government, really) and enjoy thorough answers from an actual conservative perspective from someone who's spent a lifetime in conservative politics.
No registration required, so please invite your pastors, friends, and family from the Abbotsford-South Langley area for a great time of food, fellowship, and freedom fighting!
Been talking about this for some time now. Glad we have genuine common sense plans coming from Pierre.
Now we just need an election. Now.

TAKE BACK CONTROL OF THE BORDER & SAVE 🇨🇦🇺🇸 trade:
We must:
1. Send Canadian Forces troops, helicopters & surveillance to the border now
2. Add at least 2000 border agents & extend CBSA powers along the entire border, not just crossings
3. Install high-powered scanners, border surveillance towers & truck-mounted drone systems to spot border incursions
