Update: Following a complaint from the Legal Rights Protection Forum, and in view of the ‘Calvary Temple Foundation’ society’s failure to respond to the earlier notice, the Kunchanapalli Gram Panchayat (West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh) has issued a subsequent notice directing the society to submit all requisite permissions obtained from the District Collector for operating a large church at the said location. It has further noted that the structure was originally constructed after obtaining permission from the Directorate of Town and Country Planning for use as a “Meeting Hall.” The Panchayat has warned that failure to furnish the required documents will result in action being initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Panchayat Raj Act, 1994. Given 15 days to respond.
