Ashwin - "If I could give an opportunity to give a time machine & review one decision to correct it all over again, what will it be"? [Ashwin YT]
KL Rahul said "The World Cup final against Australia, I was stuck in the moment, whether to take down Starc or just play him as it was reversing, bowling in tough angle - in that confusing I ended up nicking it - if I could have played till the end, it could have been 30+ runs & probably World Cup in our hands - that is what I regret".
I was always in the top 3 in school. When I appeared in the engineering exams and couldn’t make it to IITs, that failure took a part of my confidence -
- Disappointing your parents (They were supportive but you yourself take that guilt)
- Coaching money getting wasted
- Society’s judgement about you
- Difficulty accepting you are not exceptional
My self-esteem became so low that taking risks after that became a challenge.
I never realised how much it affected me. Eventually I think I have accepted that failure and gained that confidence back.
Life goes on. I wish I was more forgiving at that time. I feel sad for the 18 year old me who struggled silently doubting her. Felt like an imposter. Didn’t attempt other opportunities that she could.
If you relate to me, hugs to you :)
