Up to 30% of knee replacement patients face depression during recovery, yet it is rarely discussed before surgery.
Encouraging news from a 2024 study of 1,852 patients: anxiety and depression drop significantly by 3 months post-op.

Robotic-assisted total knee replacement improves alignment accuracy and soft-tissue balance, but adds OR time and cost. Patient-reported outcomes haven't dramatically outpaced experienced manual technique. It's a tool, not a replacement for surgical judgment.
@PeltMD@jointdocShields@generalorthomd Thanks. Definitely seen the patella fracture and the thinning/maltracking. Would consider the “loose macrofixation” in the future.
If insurance companies can deny care and call it "medically unnecessary", why aren't they required to have malpractice insurance doe when they get it wrong and someone gets sicker or tragically dies ?
Nail-plate combination for PDFFs was associated with low reoperation and revision rates. These constructs may provide an advantage of earlier weight-bearing in PDFF patients versus other constructs without compromising union.

THA patients had more severe pain preop, more immediate improvements in their pain outcomes, achieved an earlier plateau in their scores, and had lower postop pain than TKA patients. Preop narcotics use significantly worsened the postop course for both.

In TKA without patellar resurfacing (PR) for inflammatory arthritis (IA) compared to OA, there were no differences in reoperations, revisions, patella-related complications, or anterior knee pain. Additionally, PR did not improve outcomes in IA.
