Pre-op narcotic use worsens post-op outcomes for TKA and THA.

THA patients had more severe pain preop, more immediate improvements in their pain outcomes, achieved an earlier plateau in their scores, and had lower postop pain than TKA patients. Preop narcotics use significantly worsened the postop course for both.
