This reminds me of many years ago when everyone was trying to build Google for Africa.

IMO, there’s not much that will be unique about an AI for Nigeria/Africa that doesn’t already exist in the mainstream LLMs models. ChatGPT, LLama and the likes are great at African history, interpreting local languages and even speaking pidgin.

I’ve seen some great effort from startups like @LelapaAI and @equalyz_ai focusing on African languages but I’ve also seen comparable models from ElevenLabs and others.

If I was thinking of where AI for Africa could win, I would focus on intricacies like biomedical science/engineering, agriculture, smart city planning and other unique African xtics. Just my opinion though
