I'm exhausted by respectability politics in Muslim art. We should be able to tell whatever stories we want however we want without having to bind ourselves into someone else's pietistic straitjacket. Moreover, we should be free to make art that reflects our diverse cultures. American Islam is distinctly cultured even from Canadian Islam. This film reflects the fullness of that experience. Make Art—Be Muslim—Make Art.
This was so striking to me. The way the movie documents the 2020s de-evolution of tech guys from California surveillance dorks to aggro Elon-lite fascists. There are hundreds of these guys and they suddenly rule the world
Every recent Nathan Fielder project expertly touches the deep existential horror of not being able to ever fully know or understand another human being or their actions.
San Francisco’s transition from counter culture capital to LinkedIn: The City™️ needs to be studied. Not so it can be replicated, but so it can never happen anywhere else ever again.
Yes, we know about the White Guy who says Inshallah, we know about the White Guy who says Wallahi…but have you noticed that the white guy never says Astaghfirullah…when arguably he has the most to ask forgiveness for? #Nooticing
If a firm's AI customer-service chatbot gives false information, traps customers in doom loops, or fails to actually help, that firm may be violating the law.
A new brief from the Center for Law & the Economy's @stephtngu and @BorrowerJustice's Adam Teitelbaum explains the various laws that apply when businesses outsource customer service to AI chatbots.
This is the first in a series explaining how existing laws apply to AI: https://t.co/4CYFl8Bec1

Digger is a political movie that condemns the idea that watching political movies is activism. You Can See Everything is a documentary that condemns the idea that documentaries can be trusted. Incredible month for movies.
one thing that digger touched on that goes w/o mention in so much liberal discourse is that, even if you are a perfect consumer, if you are a salaried worker in the 1st world with anything resembling "investments" you are absolutely personally invested in shit like rockwell oil
Your regular reminder that the “existential threat” posed by AI is more likely to involve the erosion of joy, agency, cognitive ability & our will to live, than some “rogue AI” uprising.

We gotta face the fact that COVID hasn't ended in the commercial sector.
24 hours stores are gone, everything is run by 5 people at most, and no one wants to hire because it might make profits a little less
A lot of men don't have empathy because having empathy means having to sit and reflect on the fact that they've benefitted their whole life only by exploiting everything and being on earth
