@pietervannoord @rainyday151 Herbicide residual, between that and the cover crop, 1 pass pre-emergence takes care of our weeds for the year. Cover crop residue breaks down fairly quickly except for the rye straw. It’ll last until next year. Legumes will be mostly gone in a few weeks.

@John_Schoon I only use 1 lb in my mix so a lot of times I feel like it gets smothered by everything else when it’s all laid down. We still spray after planting to ensure it’s all terminated.

@74Booger Not quite far enough along to do any good with cultipacker. I like the idea of knocking it down to allow more sunlight to emerging crop. Would need to be headed out to stay flat at all. We’re hitting ours right after planting with 50/50 results. Will spray later once emerged.

@EthanMidkiff @_AdamShanks_ @FarmrHuntr One of the things I’ve found for slugs is being judicious with insecticide applications. I refuse to use any unless I have a fairly significant problem. I’ve coupled that with planting green and haven’t had any issues. I’ll find quite a few beetles when brushing back residue.

@_AdamShanks_ So you still have a vole problem even with it VT’d? I’ve wondered about that. That’s my biggest problem every year is voles. I’m looking into a drone with thermal imaging to see if I’d be able to pinpoint colonies and spot treat them.

@_AdamShanks_ Very good! I’d say those rates are right on for straight rye. That’s as much as I generally use especially ahead of corn, then I fill in the rest with legumes, oats, ryegrass. How has planting soybeans green turned out for you?
