The violence began on Kojagari Lakshmi Puja and spread across Noakhali and neighbouring areas.

The violence was carried out by organised Islamist mobs and militias, including the Muslim National Guards, ex-servicemen and local private armed groups, against Bengali Hindu villagers in Noakhali and nearby areas. The mobs were mobilised by Muslim League leader Gholam Sarwar Husseini.

As per Dhruv Rathee, he was mislead by some people to participate in Jantar Mantar Protest and he had no knowledge that it was political protest.

He has requested to allow him to travel back to Germany as he has a wife and son and they are worried about the news of his detention.

He is ready to give written assurance to police that he will not be participating in any protest in future.
