Journalist Edward R. Murrow used his platform on CBS to criticize the witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.
This is what real journalism should do — hold power to account, not capitulate to it.
one of the worst decisions of the last few decades has been removing shop classes from high schools.
not being able to build something with your own hands fundamentally perverts how you interact with the world. you’re locked to consume. build the bookcase, it will set you free
This short skit from Canadian comedy show @22_Minutes absolutely hits the nail on the head.
Presenteeism is the new norm.
“Covid? What is this, 2020? The pandy’s done. It’s not Covid. I’m not going to test because then it’s a whole thing…”

Today is Bourdain Day, my late friend Anthony Bourdain’s 68th birthday. My friend @ericripert and I began this holiday to celebrate everything Tony did for the world, and how he used food to break down walls and build longer tables. He will always be missed terribly by all of us…but we can honor his legacy as we continue to do actions big and small to create a better world. I hope you will join us in celebrating Bourdain Day in a way that is meaningful to you! ❤️🙏
With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.
So, here's how this abortion issue works politically in Canada and is reported by 'journalists.'
1. It always starts with Conservative MPs advancing private members bills to protect the foetus or participating in anti-abortion demonstrations.
2. In response, the Liberals raise concerns that the Conservatives, if they form government, will work to restrict or even deny women's "Right to Choose."
3. Then, Conservative leaders promise, promise, promise 'cross my heart, hope to die,' on their mother's grave that the Conservatives will never restrict access to abortions.
4. The Liberals diplomatically say 'bull shit.'
5. And the journalists? They tut, tut, finger wag and report the naughty Liberals are using abortion as a wedge issue, and fail to mention that the last time Conservatives formed government they did implement policies to restrict abortions and even family planning as a condition of foreign aid. https://t.co/HT5BpGVjaU
On Saturday night, Pearl Jam covered a bit of The Hip’s song, ‘Bobcaygeon’ during their performance of ‘Daughter’ at their concert in Vancouver, BC. 🎤❤️🎶🎩✨
@Scribulatora@AndrewScheer It is indeed the despicable language of blackmail.
“I would not have had to burn your house down if you just had had agreed to cut that tree that sheds leaves on my car. It was totally your decision.”
The notion that the embarrassing charade that unfolded in parliament last week was Trudeau’s fault because if he had just axed the tax, it wouldn’t have happened is like saying “If she had just shut up, I wouldn’t have had to hit her.”
Looking at you, @AndrewScheer.
To those we loved and lost,
To those who served and never came home,
To those who continue to serve,
Today on #RemembranceDay, and every day in between,
We will remember them.
My dad, who is skin and bones as it is, and has no use of his arms, has had to wait sometimes HOURS for someone to help him eat. Sometimes they don’t even warm up the food. Do better. @ONThealth@fordnation @collegeofnurses
My father the quadriplegic is not being repositioned regularly at Juravinski @HamHealthSci and his call bell goes unanswered for hours at a time, hopefully these signs will help - DO BETTER! @fordnation @collegeofnurses @SylviaJonesMPP@CTVNews@ONThealth
We’re in 2023, why is a patient waiting this long for pain meds and for their call bell to be answered? What if this was YOUR loved one? HELP MY DAD GET THE CARE HE NEEDS @fordnation@ONThealth@HamHealthSci @collegeofnurses @Wayne_Gates
