Zawsze byłem słaby z matematyki, ale mam pewien matematyczny nawyk, który towarzyszy mi od czasów pierwszej pracy. Wyprowadzam wzory opisujące rzeczywistość. Czy są one poprawne? Z pewnością nie, ale pomagają mi w życiu.

Kilkanaście lat temu miałem problem. Potrzebowałem pieniędzy na spłatę długów (kiedyś o tym opowiem — zostałem okradziony).

Trzeba było zwiększyć zarobki i to ASAP.

Wzór dla etatowca jest banalnie prosty:

$ = godziny x stawka

Zacząłem od próby zwiększenia stawki. Gdy szef już skończył się śmiać, zapytałem, czy mógłbym pracować po 10+ godzin dziennie. Zgodził się... o ile dodatkowe 2h będą za free.

Prosty wzór na kasę był nie do ruszenia. Są rzeczy, których po prostu nie da się przeskoczyć. No chyba.... że skorzystam z innego wzoru!

$ = (godziny x stawka) + (K x SK)

Zacząłem robić proste projekty po godzinach. K to liczba obsługiwanych klientów, a SK to stawka, którą brałem za usługę (konfiguracja serwerów). Zacząłem drastycznie zwiększać parametr K. Bolało.

Nieprzespane noce, zaległości w projektach. Zmniejszyłem K, zwiększyłem SK. Pomogło. Ten wzór działał lepiej.

Co jednak sprawiało, że mój kolega, negocjując stawki za zlecenie, dostawał więcej? W czym on niby jest lepszy?! Aaa... bo on ma charyzmę, a ja nie.

$ = (godziny x stawka) + (K x SK) x WCH

WCH = Współczynnik CHaryzmy ;)

Czy jest coś, co mogłem zrobić, aby poprawić WCH? Tak.

Zapisałem się do klubu improwizacji scenicznych. Poszedłem na spotkania grupy Toastmasters. Uczyłem się retoryki w ramach kilkudziesięciogodzinnego Kursu Umiejętności Liderskich. Pomogło.

Szybko zorientowałem się, że we wzorze była literówka - brakowało nawiasu!

$ = [(godziny x stawka) + (K x SK)] x WCH

Optymalizacja jednego, niedocenianego przeze mnie parametru zwiększyła zarobki ze zleceń i pozwoliła znaleźć lepszą pracę. Wzór jednak nie był kompletny.

Nie bez znaczenia była technologia, w której pracowałem. Poznałem więc kolejną i dodałem nowy mnożnik do wzoru: WT - współczynnik technologii.

Zakładam, że większość zjawisk da się opisać wzorem.

Im więcej odkryjesz działających współczynników, tym łatwiej będzie go zoptymalizować.
