South Africa has officially submitted a substantial dossier to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), detailing Israel’s continued non-compliance with legally binding provisional measures.

The submission, formally handed over on 25 August 2026, serves to assist an ICJ committee of judges tasked with monitoring the implementation of the court’s orders in Gaza.

According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Israel’s non-compliance directly undermines the protective functions of international justice.

Hence, the submission is a vital milestone in the struggle for global accountability. By formally documenting Israel’s refusal to adhere to the court’s binding provisional measures, Pretoria is doing far more than advocating for Palestinian survival.

These are not wildfires in Algeria, Croatia, Canada, or Spain… this is what Israel is doing, burning village after village in southern Lebanon, while the world remains silent!

Israel has destroyed, burned, and occupied 10 additional villages in southern Lebanon despite signing a US-sponsored framework agreement.

More than 16,000 hectares have been entirely burned, including over 120 hectares of centuries-old olive groves to ashes in southern Lebanon, estimated to be 300-1000 years old.

These are war crimes under international law: Wanton devastation not justified by military necessity; also an act of genocide according to Article Il of the UN Genocide Convention. Yet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights does not view them as war crimes—just as he saw no genocide in Gaza!

I have been working on the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in Jerusalem for 35 years

My work has brought me into close contact with a few heads of date, numerous foreign ministers and countless senior diplomats.

Let's leave for some interesting, gissipy close-up observations about senior people in the corridors of power.

Most of the people I met were decent human beings. I liked many of them.

That is what baffled me. I saw decent people exercising poor judgment and advocating mistaken , even unthinkable measures when it came to Palestinians. (There were if course saintly exceptions).

Deciphering this was not merely personal quirk of mine. I needed to understand what really motivated them in deciding the matters that I shared with them.

It took me a while, (probably far to long) that these decent souls based their policiesbased on the diminished humanity of Palestinians. And from that point on, everything made sense.

I am not talking about vulgar racists. I saw them too, albeit in small numbers. I am talking about men and women who "are one of us".

Spare me the scolding over my generalizations. If course there were numerous exceptions. But they were just that: exceptions. What I am describing is often systematic.
