I’ve listened to @readswithrachel try to explain the plot of Age of Scorpius twice now and I still have no idea what the book is about. Just listening to the excerpts is making my brain hurt bc none of these sentences make any sense 😭
@anxifnsk@dieworkwear@sebscard did you not understand his previous response? bc if jcrew regularly runs the ~30% sale like he says then the sale price would be under $70 and his point would still apply. it’s just that there wasnt a sale running on the specific day those screenshots were taken
…the CEO of Astronomer literally just lost his job bc he was sleeping with a subordinate the same way this Try Guy did. Set aside their friendships (which they every right to end), this could’ve tanked their startup which means he jeopardized their livelihood. I’d be pissed too.
@1followernodad “An element of horror” being referenced in the last tweet is insane to me. That’s… an entirely arbitrary judgement??? And not how we define genocide??????
insufficient friction seems easily solvable: have an application fee + security deposit
eg $30 to apply, $25 refunded upon rejection
why don't companies do this? payment systems have *too* much friction?
@Atalias_Dota I don’t understand why he proposed. He’s the one perpetuating the farce. If he didn’t want to hurt her then he would’ve broken up with her years ago. He doesn’t want to deal with the fallout but he doesn’t actually care about HER
For years, I saw specialists who dismissed that my vision wasn’t fully corrected by my glasses…had single doc who listened & found out I have a condition that could cause me to permanently lose my vision if left untreated & the vision I’ve already lost is gone forever 🙃
Reid: Why did the Iran hostage crisis take place?
Todd: Because fundamentalist radicals took over the government
Reid: They overthrew the shah who we imposed on Iran because the Dulles brothers, one at the CIA and one at the state department, decided that the oil beneath the soil of Iran belonged to BP and belonged to us. And when mossadegh, who was the leader of Iran, the democratically elected leader of Iran, said that we would like to audit BP because we want to know if you are cheating us or paying the people of Iran based on the oil under their soil. And they said, you may not audit us. And then we overthrew him and he wound up dying in prison because we decided in our arrogance as a country, got to own their oil.
@ScoutingAlong@FreeCrypto23@BasedUncleJesus@esjesjesj Collective punishment is evil. It’s literally a war crime. For example, condemning to death the firstborn son of every Egyptian regardless of their complicity in the subjugation of Israelites is evil.
@ScoutingAlong@FreeCrypto23@BasedUncleJesus@esjesjesj “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] says the Lord” Romans 12:19
@ScoutingAlong@FreeCrypto23@BasedUncleJesus@esjesjesj Someone hasn’t read the Old Testament. God cast Adam and Eve out of Eden for their disobedience. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah & flooded the earth for 40 days/nights due to man’s wickedness. God cursed Cain to wander the earth. God visited ten plagues onto Egypt. That God?
I didn’t think the question was a “gotcha”, I thought it was a “you’ve been getting hammered on this issue, do you want to respond w/o having your answer cut off” but maybe the version that aired was different from the extended cut? It didn’t seem maliciously intentioned?
…okay, now THIS is antisemitic. trivializing the holocaust to get one over on Jewish voters who don’t support the person you want them to is genuinely more antisemitic than anything Mamdani has said or done
@LegolasMizzou@ismayelalt3@TheHartScholar@samanthacp_ The fetus wasn’t viable then and will likely now die after a short and unimaginably painful life. Just say you’re pro-birth and be done. Nothing about this is pro-life.
