@LianaCorr@RogueKite@Tayos13@DanMKervick The Trump/MAGA era has proven that we cannot all come together to focus on basic pro-human stuff. A substantial fraction of the U.S. population (30%, perhaps?) is simply anti-human and fascist, I am sorry to say. And yes, it is very much a right/left thing.
@Glace_cakes@DanMKervick They are 1) doing lots to help others, by way of Belt and Road as well as other initiatives, and 2) even if not doing direct things to help others (as per #1), they are helping everyone by rapidly advancing practical technologies & practices that develop green productive forces.

Solarpunk: a sci-fi & cultural vision of a sustainable future. Green cities, renewable energy, & human-nature harmony thrive. It’s optimistic, aesthetic, & action-oriented, inspiring art & activism.
#Solarpunk#EcoFuture
#Solarpunk is a speculative fiction genre and aesthetic movement that envisions a sustainable, optimistic future where humanity lives in harmony with nature through renewable energy, eco-friendly technology, and vibrant, green communities. It emphasizes solar power, decentralized systems, and lush, plant-filled environments, often depicted in art with bright, colorful designs and organic architecture. Unlike the dystopian focus of cyberpunk, solarpunk is utopian, promoting hope, cooperation, and environmental stewardship. It’s also a cultural ethos inspiring real-world sustainability practices and activism. #Infodrainage #Suds in #ICM
@FrederikHaaning@InfraHaz 1 They actually WERE humiliated for a century, at terrible cost; they every right to speak in terms of national rejuvenation -- quite unlike historical fascist states like Italy and Japan. Calling it "fascism" to want to lift your nation up after it was nearly ruined? Seriously?
@FrederikHaaning@InfraHaz I'm well aware of the grey areas in the PRC's systems and character -- problematic stuff of the sort that you cite (e.g. prevalent Han supremacism and racism). I am not perfectly comfortable with everything that they do. But to call them "fascist"? No, that is going WAY too far.
@FrederikHaaning@InfraHaz To call this "fascism" is just ridiculous. The Nazis did not build schools and teach official language to the gypsies and other marginalized groups (in the way that the PRC builds schools and educates its minorities). They f**king KILLED them.
