@CUComm3200 I appreciate when fashion bloggers like @byEmily express their anxiety about always being "on" b/c the job does seem extremely grueling.Bloggers are some of the most powerful influencers today. influencershttps://www.instagram.com/p/BhKDh-GHCru/?taken-by=emilyschuman
@CUComm3200 It amazes me how popular & successful dating apps are today. Some of my closest friends got boyfriends through @Tinder or @bumble. It's amazing what data researchers have gotten about which profile picts/descriptions are most successful-the smiling one makes sense :)
@CUComm3200@instagram really is more than just a feed, it's more of a memory page for me because in years to come I'll be able to look through my posts and posts I've saved and be able to see if it still represents me. #Archive
@CUComm3200 Harassment on social media can definitely make women depressed, so I think the platforms have a duty to help stop the harassment rather than provide support for women who are harassed. It shouldn't happen in the first place. @facebook@Twitter@instagram
@CUComm3200 I found this article interesting b/c it shares that @facebook pays millions of dollars towards Zuckerberg's personal security in his residences & private plane. I don't think FB should be paying for these things, but rather Zuckerberg himself. https://t.co/SJeTNDXaEk
@CUComm3200 After watching the testimony, I perceive the relationship b/w gov. & social networks as complicated b/c generational https://t.co/se8YDEbigV parents don't understand social networks, but I expected the gov. to understand it more after doing research for the testimony.
@CUComm3200 I made a finsta for one summer & it was liberating to not keep up my "personal brand" but rather just post the photos and captions I truly wanted. My real Instagram isn't a "employable social media front" though, I just pay closer attention to what I post.
@CUComm3200 I used to have my accounts on public, but then as my information and photos started accumulating I realized that I was sharing way too much with strangers. Now I don't feel so scared posting my location on @instagram and @Snapchat. #privatenow
@CUComm3200 I think it's crazy & creepy that my selfies or general social media posts can be moneymakers, but I don't really care because I just use the sites for entertainment and to stay connected with family and friends. Also, I like that ads from my favorite companies show up
@CUComm3200 The freelance community & blogosphere Ross writes about is so powerful. As someone interested in marketing, bloggers and freelancers are some of the best marketers out there. For example, @ChiaraFerragni has been a monumental figure in fashion marketing.
@CUComm3200 I think hashtags have helped immensely with activism nowadays because they really help spread awareness and label an impact in a way that can easily be repeated on various platforms. They help spread movements way faster than regular news. #MeToo
@CUComm3200 Radovanovic's article that explores digital divides & inequality reminded me what a privilege it is to have access to information & now be able to share our views and opinions on social media platforms. I wonder how much more we'll be connected via tech in the future.
@CUComm3200 I witness Foer's belief that algorithms "fuel a sense of omnipotence, the condescending belief that our behaviour can be altered" when reading blogs and having the @Google ads around the site guide me to other sites that I'll be drawn to.
@CUComm3200 Social media is updated so often that I never realized the significance of the addition of the different races in emojis, but McGill's article is so true: "race is reproduced online in pretty much the same way as the offline world."
@CUComm3200 I think @YouTube is a great platform for people to express themselves, but I'm not totally comfortable with the lack of privacy within the medium. Happy for the transgenders who enjoy using it though!
@CUComm3200 Moira Donegan's Media Men List goes along with the current #metoo movement because both are helping women become more comfortable with expressing their sexual assault experiences.
@CUComm3200 I'm proud of @YouTube for removing @LoganPaul's Japan video because that is horrific. Paul should've known better than post something that is firstly inappropriate, and secondly not even good content for his targeted audience, which is young people who want to laugh.
@CUComm3200 The problems with social media that Alana Hope Levinson stated in her article is exactly why I'm straying from a digital marketing career path because I do not want to lose sleep over what 140 characters I decide to put out into the world.
@CUComm3200 Media's only advancing, nothing's being replaced. Mediums like television & the web are evolving. I experience Instagram by sharing memories, staying updated with friends, & gaining inspiration from the people I follow. Musicians use social media to grow fan bases.
@CUComm3200 My favorite part about the "freeconomics" movement is getting free shipping on most online orders #shopaholic. I loathe when I have to click through articles on some websites just to be stopped by ads. My #digitaldistraction is real.
