To the attendings/consultants that tell medical students they have “too much potential” for certain specialities in medicine, please STOP.
I hear this most often towards students expressing interest in Peds, FM, and/or OBGYN.
The message being received is that-
Take a minute to appreciate where you are and what you achieved. Sometimes with how fast-paced life is we forget how much effort we put into things and just start anticipating the next step. Slow down, reflect and give yourself a pat on the shoulder.
