@AshleySchapitl In my experience as an ANC "no forseeable retail" is absolute BS tied to unrealistic rent expectations. That said, many developers in upper NW have replaced street level retail with additional residential units, it's more profitable.
While I can't personally vouch for the JLG team here, the general strategy and the slowness of BOE on this stuff is notable. The specific strategy here is very DC, but similar strategies are common in many large cities. Respond accordingly.
🚨🚨OK. Here we go again!!
This is a repeat of how McDuffie’s surrogates got rid of Elissa Silverman when voters minds were manipulated with lies!!
DCBOE delayed rulings; allowed the misinformation and lies to flow; then when it was too late for Elissa to recover from the damage of lies the DCBOE ruled in her favor!!
Don’t let the manipulation of lies change your mind!!
No one on JLG’s team would risk their integrity on misuse of funding. Nor risk losing the credibility of the campaign.
Tommy Wells, the Chairman of the JLG CAMPAIGN is an upstanding man, and has never wavered from his humanity of integrity and love for people. I know this personally, as I have worked along side him for many years!!
DON’T be fooled again!! Dismiss the hoax.
Remain aware! Look at the timing of this conspiracy theory. Tell your friends it’s a hoax!!
@maustermuhle More nonsense from Nick DelleDonne, who has also famously, among many other stupid things, blamed bike lanes for increasing the price of coleslaw at Safeway...
#News - Blistering new IG report on DC’s 911 system - high absenteeism, some supervisors lack training, agency doesn’t systematically analyze quality assurance data to improve.
Summary:
Ask most folks who have served as ANCs and incompetent mayoral appointees will come up quickly. I was particularly disgusted by the seeming expectation from the administration that most senior agency heads campaign for the mayor, taking some of their limited leave time to do so.
I disagree with Tom’s conclusions but I think this framing of “crooked ineptitude” vs “downside risk” in the mayor’s race is fair. I think DC has really stagnated under micromanagement and borderline competent agency heads who are chosen only for loyalty. I’d like to see change.
If you follow this account you should absolutely take this survey and let OP know what you think about a plan to freeze DC in amber for the next generation and do nothing to change the exclusionary, luxury zoning that keeps this city unaffordable.
The car was removed from the tracks around 1:30 p.m. & normal service has resumed! Our Intrusion Detection Warning system did its job by alerting our command center of a fence breach & obstruction. Thank you to @ffxfirerescue for their assistance!
@astoundconnects I've called four times regarding this outage and every time the estimate is that it will be fixed in 2.5 hours. It has now been over 12. When will service be restored?
Streets around Grant Circle haven't seen a plow all day. Webster got one yesterday and Varnum none. 3rd has not been plowed yet at all between Allison and Upshur. Can we get some assistance, please @DCDPW@MayorBowser?
After a disciplinary hearing, MPD decided to fire the officer, John Bewley, earlier this year. But he appealed the firing, and last November an administrative judge found that D.C. didn't properly consider his merits as an officer and what sanctions had come from similar cases.
First, I want to thank Governor-elect Spanberger for placing her faith in me. I am very enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve in her historic Administration as Secretary of Finance. Believe me, every day for the last 22 years, I woke up grateful for the opportunity…
@ericanc4c07 Did any Green Team proxies or OUC staffers lodge a protest during public comment? I got an ear full on my similar 4C letter four years ago or so.
Today we honored a DC Gov legend: Gerard Brown has been a dedicated employee for 27 years and the nemesis of local rats. We celebrated his well-deserved retirement, thank him for his service, and wish him the very best!
Interesting: @MayorBowser wants to move $5.5 million from @OUC_DC and the D.C. Department of Corrections to @DCPoliceDept to cover overtime pay for officers. (This is part of a broader reprogramming of money in the FY25 budget to pay for overtime spending.)
This summer, the Open Markets Act–a bill aimed at promoting competition in the mobile app economy–was reintroduced in Congress.
Alan Wehler and Jon Tran of @ChertoffGroup provide recommendations for how lawmakers could update the bill so it does not have unintended privacy impacts for app users.
@maustermuhle@CMLewisGeorgeW4 This is better fixed if DC took Fairfax’s sliding scale of a) gross household income and b) ownership proportion to determine % exempt
A household earning $60k should have higher tax exemption than a $155k household
