There are places that never fail to amaze me no matter how many times I visit.
The door at St. Mary and St. David, Kilpeck, Herefordshire is almost 900 years old and displays the tree of life, beakheads and beasts. The jambs are alive with twisted serpents and warriors.

After 146 years in business, Russell & Bromley has closed its last two stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

More than 400 staff members have now been made redundant as a result of the closures.

Russell & Bromley said it had suffered from falling consumer footfall, rising operating costs and challenging market conditions in recent years.

This is an iconic British footwear brand that felt pressure under an anti-industry Labour government.

And he’s a happy, confident, loveable dog with a great temperament.

But if I get up to go to the toilet, he’s like “where you going, when you coming back?”

And when I return he’s so happy it’s like Christmas Day every-single-time

To the London black cab driver who found me bloodied in the chaos of central London and drove me all the way to Reading: thank you.

Thank you for cleaning my face. For the sugary tea at the BP garage. For delivering me safely to my friend's front door and refusing to charge me a single penny.

In the trauma of that day, I never asked your name. I don’t think I even thanked you properly, and I am so sorry for that. But I hope you know that I remember you every single year.

You were a hero when London needed one most.
