@NickT00783@trashmatsuit I actually didn't lmao My mind went oh right she got a bit of love for Into the Woods, Sicario, Young Victoria, Mary Poppins got it got it and fully skipped that one
while we’re still talking about the americans - one reason why it’s so compelling (at least to me) is that it’s one of the few, if not the only, golden age/canonical shows that has a woman as the antihero main character à la tony soprano, don draper, and walter white
@kylebuchanan It’s a fact that’s surprisingly been absent from the conversation. Incredible box office but key detail (also a big difference with Obsession).
@ianamurray Yes and no which is why Cannes is so funny. Officially the new rules say no but every jury is different and can adjust in their own way to bat for the films they love.
@WolffintheWild The answer is not that because the post is wrong and farming for clicks and outrage. Not only was Sentimental Value not disqualified of anything, it was literally nominated in all those categories, Best Picture, directing, writing, acting. etc. It's a non issue.
Most striking thing upon my rewatch of TDWP is that Nate as a character is fine. He’s generally pretty reasonable…it’s Grenier’s wet blanket of a performance what sucks all the life out of him (and the film).
@ArthurKV_@kylebuchanan For sure, but one of the reasons. The rules of setting screentime limits don't feel realistic so that's why I wonder if this is an attempt to curve it at all.
