2. A cap/ floor creates a significantly more level field for retaining and acquiring talent- even for teams with cheap owners. Look at nfl where small markets keep their qbs.

@ZeFlashNFL Yes, but that makes the stakes of success that much higher. If you trade up and fail, you actually set your team back years. Plus, even in a stacked qb class (like ‘24) if you are at 20, the highest you can realistically trade up is to the nix/ penix tier.

@za40551 @lukesawhook At least if you start the young guys and have the same situation then you know about them. If you are saying we are going to have 9/10 wins either way starting the younger plays is much preferred, and Rodgers doesn’t raise their ceiling above that significantly in any way

If you do that and fail, you risk winding up with a top pick and not owning it (see the panthers, who have set up the Texans and bears up for success). Would be better to use capital to set the new qb up for success.

They haven’t done that and will be in purgatory until they do.
