Dear salaried class, this is the system and power, and this is how they manage it.

A salaried individual pays 25K annually just for earning 115K per month, and for our beloved trading community, our government is generously planning to allow them to pay just a minimum of 25K irrespective of their income and that’s it. Why can’t they be taxed on their actual income earned? What is the purpose of the FBR and its staff?

Each time, Pakistan gets temporary relevance.
Each time, donor money and global attention flows in.
Each time, we mistake a geopolitical window for an economic strategy.

2️⃣We still haven’t converted strategic rent into lasting prosperity

Today, Pakistan is around $1,800 GDP per capita vs ~$2,400 for India vs. ~$2,800 for Bangladesh.
Exports + imports are the same, only 22% of GDP vs. India: ~40% vs. Malaysia: ~70%.
Since 2011, our exports are up 1.3% p.a, versus 11.3% for Vietnam.

A $400bn economy cannot raise or repay $3Bn to UAE without creating more dependency on KSA.

It’s like changing the meth supplier, without fixing the addiction.

3️⃣This is not just a PML-N, PPP, or PTI failure. It is a system design failure — political, military, bureaucratic.

We keep betting on the next “game changer”:
> Rare earth minerals
> Chinese CPEC loans
> Saudi Pact
> Regional war dividend

Instead of doing the hard work > human capital development, exports, productivity and institutions.

And 20 years from now, we will still be poorer, more fragile, and further behind.

The other thought is when the Saudi Business delegation came to meet her in Lahore, she had to get a plane from Pak Air Force to bring them from Islamabad to Lahore. Now she has Punjab’s plane which she can lend to VIP investors to get them to come to Lahore and invest 🤷‍♂️
