Several eyewitness testimonies of devotees participating in the yatra, and local Hindus of Nuh have emerged alleging that women and girls were dragged into fields, stripped and likely gangraped during #MewatTerrorAttack by Islamists. One person has claimed that a 'woman and her child was burnt alive'. Torn clothes of women and even little girls have allegedly been found,as per one alternative media outlet.

We tried contacting @police_haryana, SHO Nuh and others, to get their response on these disturbing reports, but either did not get a response or were disconnected the moment we said we wanted to talk about #NuhViolence.

@cmohry @HMOIndia should hand over probe into these shocking allegations to CBI/NIA as police has proven to be ineffective in protecting ordinary citizens in the Nuh region in the past, and powerful Congress MLAs in the region like Mamman Khan have played a key role in instigating this current round of violence.

Just like West Bengal post-poll pogrom, there may be hesitancy on part of victims to come forward due to fear of retribution or due to 'social shame', but brushing such alleged crimes under the carpet only emboldens the perpetrators. Our police has become accustomed to downplaying Islamist violence keeping short-term goal of 'restore law and order'...this must end if we are to avoid total chaos and anarchy.
