@nursekelsey Call your local pharmacy next time. Your pharmacist can offer advice on symptom relief beyond what your doctor prescribes to treat your ailment.
@VinGuptaMD@cvspharmacy@tori_rooney_@NBCNewsNow Dayquil is for multi symptom relief (cough and congestion). A better choice for cough only would be maximum strength Mucinex or Mucinex DM. And for cough and congestion, your choice would be Mucinex D. Robitussin DM will only help for cough, not head congestion.
@acweyand Our pediatrician still asks if mine are all drinking at least 2 cups a day for calcium. Is it the calcium in milk that interferes with hemoglobin or something else? Or is the problem just excess calcium from overconsumption of milk?

The PBMs definitely screw independent pharmacies, but have you seen what they do to their own pharmacists? CVS/Caremark underpays CVS, who then needs to cut staffing to bare minimum. No bathroom or lunch breaks so CVS/Caremark can make even more money.
@acweyand We did this 2 years ago with a bulk pack of aluminum loaf pans I bought off Amazon. Saved the loaf pans but it never got cold enough last year to pull it off again. If the forecast shows a solid week of extreme cold, we might try again this year.
@wsbgnl Former chain pharmacist 🏻♀️I can confirm the abysmal working conditions. They only got worse after COVID as all pandemic response shifted to pharmacies. Vaccines, PCRs, Paxlovid, Test-to-treat, free home rapid tests. Yet we weren’t considered healthcare when it came to mask rules.
@RyanMarino I’m a pro-mask, pro-vaccine pharmacist that just caught my first COVID infection from an outdoor exposure. However, I’ll continue to promote vaccines, wear masks indoors, avoid crowded indoor spaces, rapid test, and opt for outdoor dining and activities to avoid future infections
@PeggyGierhart@nursekelsey You can ask your pharmacy to bill your insurance. I (when needed) get 8 free tests filled as a prescription for each family member per month, billed to my insurance for no copay, from my local chain pharmacy. I simply call to speak to the pharmacy staff and they take care it.
@FinchTH Pharmacists and pharmacy staff! Patients come to us for OTC care for a variety of issues, including rashes. Because our advice is free, patients use us first to learn if they can treat at home or need to seek care from their doctors.
@TheAngryEpi @CDCgov I don’t know if this applies everywhere, but I’m only allowed to vaccinate under standing order protocol from my health system. When guidelines change, I can’t immediately vaccinate under new guidance until the standing order is updated by my health system’s designated physician.
@DGlaucomflecken I once met a pharmacist that worked for Medco (now Express Scripts) who said one of their metrics was call duration. If they were on a call with a provider for a prior authorization, they’d disconnect the call if they were close to getting dinged.
@tmprowell Many times, the price is high because your doctor has prescribed a tier 3 or higher drug. Find your RX plan’s formulary of covered drugs (usually online) and ask your MD to prescribe something that is a preferred drug on your formulary. This will save more $ than discount cards
@JuliaRaifman Thank you for saying this. Sick people visit pharmacies to get prescriptions and OTCs. Employers should be required to keep us safe, including providing us with good masks. Pharmacy is healthcare.
@nursekelsey Anyone that stood with the park rangers. My kids call this the hotdog picture and let me know whenever they see someone with a hotdog t-shirt or a sticker on their car.
@Loretta_Torrago It’s not my impression, either, that she thinks bars or restaurants should be closed. Just that schools should be open at all costs. No mitigation for others, just less mitigation for children.
@JeromeAdamsMD I second the notion to see a physical therapist! When I’ve gone to physical therapy, they’ve had me do pelvic tilts, dead bugs, and bird dogs. All are aimed to build core strength while protecting the back. And a bonus is that back pain can ease as core strength improves!
@michaelmina_lab@PaulAbiNasr Thank you for not lying about your vaccination status. As a pharmacist, I check every patient’s date before I provide a vaccine. There’s always a chance I can miss and providing a vaccination out of protocol only puts my license at risk. I appreciate you didn’t lie to get boosted
