After 113 applications, 34 rejections, 8 interviews and no responses from 71 of those applications, I can proudly say that I have finally accepted an offer as a full-time iOS developer @travelbankhq! 🎉 No bachelors degree, no bootcamp, 100% from online resources. I DID IT!!!
I don’t think I want to be primarily an iOS dev anymore after getting into unity game dev. I’m having a lot more fun and it’s definitely more engaging than simply building UI.
Wassup my fellow SWEs! Im probably just tweeting into the void but does anyone have any experience with moving to Japan through finding a dev job?
My wife and I are looking to move abroad for a while and I’m just curious about how doable this is
@elonmusk When did you care about fairness? When I was in the Navy, it wasn’t fair that I had to work 12-16 hour days while others only had a 6 hour work day. Theres a saying in the military: Pick a rate, choose your fate. They know what they signed up for, don’t go complain about it now.
Biggest pet peeve is when api sends me a string value of “true” when it’s supposed to be a bool. I just wasted an hour trying to figure out why an object wasn’t decoding correctly while thinking it was an entirely different issue. 🤦🏻♂️
My wife quit nursing to become a full time artist 🎨. She believed in me when I quit school to go learn how to code online, it’s only natural that I do the same for her 🥹. #YOLO

@VicDevPiano Off the top of my head, maybe make a protocol for the viewmodels with an associated type of State. Then declare your function signature like ‘func mutate() -> State’.
My wife launched her art business and it mean a lot to her and myself if you could check out her products at https://t.co/iu9mCk62KK! Each piece was hand painted with gouache and she’s selling them as stickers, postcards and individual art prints. Posting some of them below:
@6886_xoxo1@MattWallace888 That’s a dumb argument lol. I have definitely been out on a lake, on a paddle board without being strapped to it. Why? Because I know how to swim
I was laid off from Lyft today, so I'm looking for work!
If you're hiring remote or in Montreal, hit me up.
12 years iOS experience, 9 years Swift.
My DMs are open.
@acbdev No I think it’s valid to think about this especially in todays climate. We have older folks with their own idea of work culture but they’re slowly transitioning out of the tech space. It’s up to the current generation to decide on how we want to communicate with one another.
