There are also special #microbiology #laboratory techniques that can be used to inhibit these chromosomal #cephalosporinases #AmpCs. Inhibition zones around #antibiotic disks are enlarged. 1st plate on Mueller Hinton. 2nd with addition of inhibitor directly in the medium.

@fortheloveofmi2 Thanks for the nice image! Hyper-expressed AmpCs (chromosomal de-repressed or plasmid), sometimes with ESBLs (but not necessarily) and impermeability, lead to carbapenem resistance. This can cause quite a differential Dx problem. As seen here, same (entero-)bacteria.

Please, #IDtwitter, can I get some help? This is a A. terreus isolate, tested for anidulafungin. I am confounded by the 'background', which looks like residual growth, and which does not show up on itra, posa or caspo testing. Would you use to treat pulmonary necrotizing disease?
