@carrierd Q7: The biggest takeaway is being able to accept that there is always going to be fad diets, but as an RD learning to empathetic with the clients and being able to properly communicate proper nutrition choices for them. #FN1010
@carrierd Q6: I think it is important to be there to properly inform of the potential risks of the fad diet. Supporting them as they make better decisions will help them want to continue down a healthier path. #FN1010
@carrierd Q5: I had heard about most of these diets/programs. I think the carnivore diet is a terrible idea. I have actually used the Noom app in the past and it worked well but I also thought the calories given were too low to me and I stopped using it. #FN1010
@carrierd Q4: Losing muscle can be a con with fad diets. I would try to guide a client away from fad diets by explaining the lower the calories the less nutrients you get. This will lead to muscle loss which is important to have when trying to boost weight loss. #FN1010
@carrierd Q3: Also, I would explain to the client that the quick weight loss is going to be more water weight lost compared to fat loss. But some people are motivated by any kind of weight regardless if its water weight or not.
@carrierd Q3: I think a pro of a fad diet would be motivation for someone if they got quick results but I would try to help find something a client can do long term to prevent the risk of malnutrition #FN1010
@carrierd Q2: The need to fit in can cause people to turn to fad diets. Peer pressure has a big role. Also failed attempts to diets in the past can lead someone to turn to a fad diet.
