The people who got laid off from BV/AP/Revolver are the ones who truly live and breathe music and that you will run into all the time, whether at a show in a 100 cap room or at a music festival. Absolutely devastating loss for the music community and journalism with real voice.

While music journalism as a whole has painfully devolved into clickbait, content and paid advertising over the last decade or so, it is very sad to see passionate, skilled writers trying to keep these outlets alive ultimately be gutted by their unqualified corporate ownership.

I’ve seen a few tv ads this week about programs to teach media literacy to children due to all the false information being consumed. I’m also watching meaningful journalism dissapear more every day.

Finding out on the same day that my favorite Thai place is closing and my favorite cheap sushi place is closed is so ugh. I feel like small/family owned, affordable businesses can’t stay open in Williamsburg anymore and just get replaced by absolute garbage.
