Normalize telling people:
My brain is in the middle of processing a large and complex model of something entirely unrelated to your desired communication. I will let you know when this is complete and can move on to another input but that time is not now.
Source in Lewiston sends us photos of what appears to be a man doing his laundry in the Andro at the base of Great Falls...
You can see what appears to be detergent in the water in the second picture.
Besides the obvious absurdity, surfactants in detergent are toxic to fish, invertebrates, algae, and other aquatic life.
They can damage the protective mucus layer on fish, irritate or destroy gills, impair oxygen uptake, and disrupt cell membranes.
Source also claimed the man was brushing his teeth using water from the river...
@BuzzPatterson In a condo your "HOA" is doing building management and planning repairs for roofs, elevators, pool, and parking. They budget maintenance, repairs, staff, reserves, and utilities, paid from your monthly dues. Volunteer to keep the demons and control freaks out.
Grand Coulee Dam
This is the most powerful powerplant in North America it has a capacity of 6.8 GW and was built 1933-1942. It is old.
Below is one of 18 original Francis turbines that make up the plant. Some of them are approaching their 100th year in service. A ridiculous feat.
The vertical shafts and Francis units were produced at Newport News Shipyard, which is now the USN main naval base.
Worth remembering that if you get things right they can last a very long tim, these units are marvels, but interestingly I don’t think there is anywhere in America who could make this in 2026? It’s too big.
The 100 year old Francis runner below weighs 430 tons and is 10 meters diameter. In 2026, the largest forging size you can procure anywhere in the Americas is 130 tons
This hollowing out of industrial infrastructure has to reach an inflection point somewhere. Especially the super giant facilities that can sometimes go an entire financial year without an order.
Cool to know they had sci fi scale stuff back then.
This is something I've been talking about forever. Conservatives are especially prone to coddle their little girls. "Daddy's little princess" is a culture wrecking phenomenon, not one of "increasing her self worth" so she's treated well by the future partner she chooses.
Self worth is increased through works and successes. Success can only be won through repeated failure in demanding that both boys and girls try on their own.
Conservatives in their attempt to recognize gender differences often fail to recognize the ways in which we are the same.
Humans NEED A PURPOSE.
It's a sign of status for a man to provide enough financial security that his woman can afford to not work outside the home and manage their home life instead. When much of that is also outsourced, there's not enough for her to do. It's not a flex to provide extreme comfort and little responsibility to your wife. You're killing her slowly.
When anyone, male or female, lacks purpose, they will invent a purpose in the form of unnecessary problems.
We evolved in survival struggle. We are now experiencing virtually no struggle when it comes to basic survival and if you don't insert your own struggle in the form of various projects where the potential to fail exists, people often begin experiencing mental health issues as a result.
This is a common scenario in modernity for both men and women. We're all too coddled and it's killing us.
Pro-criminal Mayor Wu knows she has ZERO authority to block ICE from utilizing private property — so now she’s trying to intimidate Bostonians.
If PRIVATE citizens want to allow federal law enforcement onto their OWN property, they should be allowed to do so.
They should not face threats from their radical mayor who shamelessly compared ICE agents to a neo-Nazi group.
@LuckyMcGee Holy crap. But is fren. These things even live up here despite the winters, I've seen them build webs between rosebushes. I expect they eat japanese beetles and stuff.
@LuckyMcGee Sorry, that sucks. I can't catch a break either today. My tire valve stem broke off while checking tire pressure after work and the wheel was seized to the hub when I tried to remove it. I've never seen a 2 year old metal valve stem just snap off in a pressure gauge before.
Yeah that’s not how greatness works, Jeff. India has 2X more people than the entire earth did in Mozart’s time and they’ve produced precisely zero Mozarts. Numbers don’t produce greatness, cultures do.
It’s baffling how such smart people think and say the stupidest things.
🚨BREAKING: #FBI Boston & @IRS_CI special agents have arrested Mayor Brian DePena, of Lawrence, MA, for allegedly fraudulently obtaining over $1.5 million in #COVID19 @SB@SBAgov loans, & using the proceeds to fund his campaign account, pay his personal taxes, & pay off $883,000 in high-interest mortgages on several properties he owned in Lawrence. We took him into custody without incident at his home earlier today. Read➡️https://t.co/Hq3C6ptWOb
A cow gets electrocuted so the logical next step is to declare war on the transformer with sticks.
This is the kind of problem solving that makes you understand how certain countries stay exactly where they are and wonder why we're all importing them en masse.
Illegal immigrants in Massachusetts hired someone to rob them on camera at convenience stores so they could fraudulently claim to be crime victims and obtain legal immigration status. 11 charged. And Governor Healey just signed a bill making it harder for ICE to remove them. She cannot lower our electric bills. Cannot cut our taxes. Cannot stop the fraud. But she can protect the people committing it.
@MattWalshBlog That’s only part of the story. Because while CAIR-Massachusetts was aggressively lobbying for permanent government positions and institutional power in Massachusetts, they were simultaneously demanding Heat Pump Healey veto a temporary commission focused on antisemitism.
That’s right.
A temporary Jewish-focused commission was treated as unacceptable, but at the exact same time, they were working the system to lock in permanent influence for their own community.
I won’t even get started on the ACLU’s position on this because there isn’t one. But if it’s two Christian statues on a police building in Quincy, they are busy helping a lawsuit to block them from going up.
We have a huge election here in November. Please send help.
It’s genuinely hard for westerners who see religion as a gentle, Sunday only, middle-class fundraising and choir singing affair for older people to even begin to comprehend properly what Islam is.
