I loved the ending of The Black Flamingo because Michael seemed so confident in himself. Especially because he is able to express himself through drag now and has found a group of people that can truly relate to him in this way. #XUEngl205

I love how The Black Flamingo doesn't focus too much on how the people in Michael's life react to him coming out. Instead, it focuses more on Michael, his feelings, and some of the difficulties he is facing, regarding coming out. #XUEngl205

While reading pages 1-100 of The Black Flamingo, Michael's relationship with his mom seems a bit strange to me, because at first, she seemed so supportive of him when he wanted a Barbie, and just being a single mom. Although, she slaps him for losing his jacket #XUEngl205 (1/2)

A part that really stood out to me in part six of Citizen, is when Claudia says that prison is not a place you enter because it is not a place at all. Furthermore, she says that one can only be imprisoned. Therefore, it is something that has been done to them. #XUENGL205

I also love how Rankine mentions how hurt she is when her friend does not stand up for her at the store and how much this hurt her. All she wanted was for someone to be son her side or to simply recognize what the cashier said was wrong. #XUEngl205

I love how Rankine talks about language in part 3 because the language we use can be so important. A part that really stood out to me was when she says, "Language that feels hurtful is intended to exploit all the ways that you are present". #XUEngl205

I love how Claudia Rankine discusses microaggressions in addition to how they make someone feel. This is very important because many people think there is nothing wrong with saying these statements, although, they must be made aware of the damage they're doing. #XUEngl205

I also really appreciate the discussion surrounding microaggressions because these are often not talked about in mainstream media. Although, they should be talked about much more often in media, therefore, they may be less likely to occur if they are discussed openly. #XUEngl205

I really enjoyed the episode of Reservation Dogs and I think it is so important to have indigenous representation because it is something we need to see more of. Especially the entire cast being indigenous and the creators being indigenous as well is so important! #XUEngl205
